Competition: Win The Attack’s Discography and More

With the aim of taking punk rock back to its DIY roots, Orlando, Florida quartet The Attack are set to embark on a UK headline tour this week.

Having spent the past 12 months playing shows with influential names such as Flogging Molly, Less Than Jake, and Face To Face, The Attack will be showcasing tracks from their latest album – ‘On Condition’. Released last year through Paper + Plastick, it has an old-school mentality with no song lasting longer than 3 minutes and rallying, punk-fuelled cry for unity as The Attack look to reignite its rebellious spirit.

To mark their return to the UK, we’ve teamed up with the band to give away their entire discography alongside various items The Attack will be throwing in.

Here’s how you can enter:

Win The Attack’s discography and more!

Ahead of kicking off the tour, we grabbed a word with guitarist Brad Palkevich to find out more about The Attack

AH: Can you give us a brief introduction/background of The Attack?
Brad: We formed as a rehearsal band, just for fun, I managed a band called Spitvalves, which Charlie [Bender] and Mikey [Cortes] performed in. Charlie and I lived together at the house Spitvalves practised. Spitvalves were calling it quits but Charlie and Mikey still wanted to play music so we just started Knocking out songs together when Spitvalves practice would cancel or whatever. The original lineup was actually Charlie on bass and vocals, me on guitar, and Mikey on drums. Crazy. Now Mikey is on bass, and we have a drummer named Jason.

AH: This is your second time back in the UK, what’s the draw and is it going to be a regular occurrence?
Brad: We really hope so, for years all of our friends, ya know the bands we tour with have told us we need to make it over here because people would dig what we do, and so far they’ve been right.

There doesn’t seem to be as much as an interest for the 70s influenced, 80s sounding punk in the States, but here, whether it’s a pub show or an O2 gig, we get a great response and meet tons of new friends.

AH: You also run Enemy Ink with bases in Orlando, Florida and Coventry. Can you tell us a little bit about that?
Brad: Haha, yes nice. Enemy is a whirlwind. Charlie and I started Enemy in order to print merchandise for the previously mentioned Spitvalves. The company has grown from he and I, with a single station press in his dad’s garage to a juggernaut.

We now run multiple automatic presses, employ dozens of friends, print merch for some of our favourite bands, as well as sports teams, film companies, and science fiction conventions.

Over the past 15 years bands have constantly asked us to “send their artwork to their UK printer for their European tour”. Well, we finally saw the opportunity in front of us and expanded to the UK with some lifelong friends running the shop, taking care of our US bands when they tour here, as well as developing new relationships in England.

AH: Your latest release is ‘On Condition’ out via Paper+Plastick. How has the reception been to the record both at home an abroad?
Brad: So far it seems well received, we had a really cool AP [Alternative Press] review, and one of the songs, ‘Sons and Daughters’, had a couple really good weeks at specialty radio which is kind of unheard of for a punk band these days. Specialty radio in the States is typically specific shows or weekend programming on larger stations.

We recorded the record with Pete [Steinkopf] from The Bouncing Souls near my hometown in NJ which was fun for everyone. I also feel the record has helped us get one some bigger tours. Looking back I think some of our friends like Less than Jake, or Flogging Molly, were kinda waiting to see what the next record would do. Fast forward a year, we’ve just toured with both of them.

AH: What’s next for The Attack?
Brad: After this UK run, tons of practice and writing. 2017 has been so busy, as I mentioned Less Than Jake, Flogging Molly tours, also the Flogging Molly Cruise, after shows at Punk Rock Bowling and Stoked for the Summer festivals, two UK trips and a run with Face to Face.

We’re gonna get things ready for a new record while taking a moment to look after Enemy Ink as well (if not our operations manager Jami is going to kill both Charlie and me!)

‘On Condition’ by The Attack is out now on Paper + Plastik.
