Influences: Skies Collide

Last Friday, Australian dark pop/alt-rock band, Skies Collide released their new single – ‘Run Wild’. The dynamic number delicately combines Brittany Wilson’s ballad-like vocals with muscular rock instrumentation. Having shared the stage with names such as Mayday Parade, Emarosa, Lydia, and Hands Like Houses, ‘Run Wild’ marks the start of a bright new chapter for Brisbane-based quartet.

To get a better idea what Skies Collide are all about, we asked them to tell us about five influential bands.

Saosin

The self-titled album is one of our favourite albums of all time! The guitar work is something we always come back to for inspiration.

The Getaway

These guys are one of our favourite Australian bands. Their songwriting and musicianship is always phenomenal! Definitely a band we’ve looked up to from the beginning.

Paramore

We draw influence from Paramore both musically and vocally. It’s hard not to be inspired by a band with that much talent, and of course, that voice!

Hands Like Houses

Another one of our favourite Australian bands! They’re amazing musically and their lyrics really provoke a lot of thought and imagery. It’s really cool to see how well they are received on an international level.>P

PVRIS

It’s been incredible to see these guys go from strength to strength in such a short amount of time and deservedly so! They’re so refreshing and the song writing is out of this world.

‘Run Wild’ by Skies Collide is available now.
