Playlist: Trash Boat’s Essential Tour Tracks

This weekend, St. Albans’ Trash Boat kick off a UK headline tour. Joined by Broadside and Homebound, it comes off the back of a hectic 2017 which has seen the quintet out on the road on various continents; Europe, Asia, North America and Oceania. Nevertheless, they’re now back home and look to round off their ‘Nothing I Write You Can Change What You’ve Been Through’ album cycle.

Having spent their fair amount of time in a van, travelling all over the world, Trash Boat have been accompanied by a soundtrack made up of former tour buddies, “scene” companions, and more. To get an insight into what they’ve been blasting on the van stereo, vocalist Tobi Duncan picked out a selection of his favourite tour tunes.

Knocked Loose – Counting Worms

Never fails to get an “ARF ARF” from the entire van.

Pinegrove – Old Friends

As soon as this song comes on, I’m always stoked to jam the whole thing. Interesting mix of styles that I 100% rate.

Counterparts – Stranger

Absolute banger! ‘Tragedy Will Find Us’ is a serious album, this is my favourite song. Brendan has one of the best voices going in my opinion.

Neck Deep – In Bloom

I knew most of the words to this after just one or two listens; really catchy and full of vibes!

Grayscale – Atlantic

This album (‘Adornment’) was released when we were in the US and accompanied us on a bunch of the long drives. We didn’t seem to get bored of it at all. Bangers.

Trophy Eyes – Nose Bleed

My favourite song off a near flawless album (‘Chemical Miracle’), loving the style switch up but still hard as ever. This album was 100% listened to death but I’d still jam any song that came on.

In Her Own Words – Silver Lights

This release seems to have slipped under the radar for the most part but damn if it isn’t full of absolute tunes. Easy choice if I’m stuck for something to jam.

Childish Gambino – 3005

There’s nothing this guy can’t do, his discography has some of my favourite hip-hop ever and ‘Because The Internet’ is relentless and consistent. Anything from ‘Awaken My Love’ too.

Tiny Moving Parts – Along The Lakeside

Incredible musicianship and incredible guys. They will always break the top five of my favourite bands ever. ‘Celebrate’ moved more towards the catchy side than their classic techy style, but they pull it off over and over.

Can’t Swim – Stranger

Looking forward to seeing more from these guys. Their latest release (‘Fail You Again’) caught me off guard, I kind of brushed off the first listen but after giving it the time of day, it’s one of my favourite releases of 2017.
