Download Festival Preview: Counterparts

As the road to the Download Festival becomes shorter by the day, we will be speaking to a whole host of acts from this years festival about what to expect from them at Download 2015.

With work on their fourth full-length, ‘Tragedy Will Find Us’ complete and set to be released on July 24th through Pure Noise Records, Canadian melodic-hardcore band Counterparts arrive back in the UK just months after opening up for Architects. However they arrive at Download they will be previewing ‘Tragedy Will Find Us’, a record that promises to be the bands most honest and revealing to date.

They’ll be kicking off the festival on the Maverick stage (the third stage) early on Friday afternoon before the likes of Fightstar, Beartooth, Defeater, and Gnarwolves.

As they prepare to travel over the Atlantic for the big day, we spoke to vocalist Brendan Murphy about his expectations for Download 2015.

AH: Why should fans check you out at Download?
Brendan: Because we play first, so what else are you gonna do? Seriously though, sprint to our stage.

AH: What can we expect from your set?
Brendan:
Five cheeky boys having a lot of fun, singing songs about being miserable from our upcoming full length. We might even be drunk already.

AH: What other bands are you looking forward to seeing?
Brendan: Slipknot was the band that got me into heavy music, so not only seeing them but playing the same festival is pretty insane. Can’t wait.

AH: What are your memories of previous Download Festivals?
Brendan: I’ve heard that they’ve all been great.

AH: What advice would you give to people attending Download Festival?
Brendan: Make sure you have a copy of the set times. Have fun. Stay hydrated. Try not to get in any fights and most importantly: make sure you bring some pickled onion Monster Munch and Lucozade for your boy.

‘Tragedy Will Find Us’ by Counterparts is released on 24th July on Pure Noise Records.

Counterparts will be playing on the Maverick stage at 1:00pm on Friday June 12th.
