UPDATE: Since this story was originally published, Deftones have announced a series of UK and Ireland headline dates.
After teasing fans at last month’s show at Crystal Palace Park in London, as well as various online posts in recent days, Deftones have announced their new album. Their tenth album is called ‘private music’ and will be released through Reprise/Warner Records on August 22nd.
The quintet have marked the news with the release of its first single, ‘my mind is a mountain’.
The announcement of ‘private music’ coincided with a lengthy Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe. It sees Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham, and Frank Delgado discuss the making of the album. Moreno says the album was made across a three-year period, initially starting in Nashville. You can view the full interview below.
The record also sees the band reconnect with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz. He had previously worked with Deftones on 2010’s ‘Diamond Eyes’ and 2012 ‘Koi No Yokan’.
