San Francisco punks Spiritual Cramp have set a release date of October 24th for their second album, ‘RUDE’. Set for release through Blue Grape Musicit sees the quintet deliver their most collaborative record to date. As 2023’s self-titled album saw vocalist Michael Bingham and bassist Michael Fenton take on songwriting duties, ‘RUDE’ sees the other members contribute. It results in Spiritual Cramp embracing an eclectic mix of dub and hip-hop flourishes with hints of new wave and an indie rock swagger.

Lyrically, ‘RUDE’ promises to see Spiritual Cramp balance out their self-deprecating humour with emotional vulnerability and raw energy. “When you focus on yourself and the people around you, you can keep your side of the street clean,” shares Bingham. “And when I see the opposite of that, I get kind of offended, which is what a lot of these songs are about.”

Furthermore, the album serves as a love letter to San Francisco, via Bingham’s new home of Los Angeles. “My foundation is in San Francisco, California, and from there I can go anywhere and be who I am,” Bingham says.

The announcement of ‘RUDE’ is joined by a video for Spiritual Cramp‘s new single, ‘At My Funeral’. Capturing Bingham’s self-derisive wit, it’s paired with a groove-laden slice of indie-infused punk.
