Prince Daddy & the Hyena Drop New Track ’24-03-04_Birthday_B4′

Prince Daddy & the Hyena recently announced plans to release a new album next month. Today, the New Yorkers have shared ‘Hotwire Trip Switch‘s opening track, ’24-03-04_BIRTHDAY_B4′.

The track was written and completed on a mushroom-filled day, and is influenced by what vocalist/guitarist Kory Gregory calls “best birthday ever”. Rushing with a power-pop charge, its dizzying guitar melodies allow the track to thrive with an infectious, bouncy energy.

‘Hotwire Trip Switch’ arrives on 17th April via Counter Intuitive Records.

Kid Bookie Teams Up with Corey Taylor on ‘Blame’

After teasing the track earlier this month, Kid Bookie have released his new single ‘Blame’. The track sees the versatile UK artist team up with Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour.

Capturing a newfound vulnerability with a familiar intensity, the track is executed with fearlessness. For Kid Bookie, ‘Blame’ sees him take accountability for his ego, allowing himself to grow.

“Over the years, facing myself and the reflection that comes with the mirror isn’t always an easy one. Accountability is the removal of ego and pride to see beyond your own nose, to allow yourself the room to grow via ownership of your actions. I’m around some of the best people who practise that in more ways than one,” says Bookie. He also explains that he and Corey Taylor have been working together for close to a decade.

“I feel this record is a coming of age, even for us. New territory, but a familiar approach to make sure we embolden each other through music. This song is almost a therapy session for me, and not just via my own lyrics, but to how Corey has made me feel by exposing himself so bare in this record, truly an honour to keep pushing the envelope with someone who has just pushed it as far as it can go, but has completely revamped what the envelope fucking is.”

On the collaboration, Corey Taylor shared, “Books is one of my favourite people, not just artists, and every time he comes to me with an opportunity to create with him, I’m always excited because I know I’m going to hear something I’ve never heard before. ‘Blame’ was so good the first time I heard it, I signed on without even knowing what I’d do! I’m proud of the song, and I’m proud of him, and grateful to be involved.

The track is the latest preview of Kid Bookie‘s forthcoming album, details of which are expected later this year.

oman Candle Reveal Debut Album ‘Unadulterated’

Las Vegas hardcore outfit Roman Candle have announced their debut album, ‘Unadulterated’. It’s set for release on 24th April via Sumerian Records.

The news follows a series of singles, the latest being ‘Blasphemous Act’.

Much like previous tracks ‘Fire In The Night Sky Forever’, ‘Lady Lazarus’, and ‘Nothing Is Original,’, the album opener is a fiery slice of intense hardcore with a chaotic execution. Even though its title comes from a Magic: The Gathering card. Vocalist Piper Ferrari explains that the track goes to a darker place.

“‘Blasphemous Act’ was the last song we wrote for the record, and it hit with such ferocity that it forced its way onto the album in the eleventh hour. The name came from a Magic: The Gathering card, but the song took on a life of its own — this unhinged, teeth-bared spiral of obsession and retribution. Lines like “your neck in my teeth is all that I need” and “karma is owed, paid in full” captured a darker, more primal side of the band that we didn’t even know we were still capable of tapping into. By the time it explodes into that repeated “run for your life” refrain, it felt clear: the record wouldn’t be complete without this song.”

Civil Villains Announce New Album (‘A Sleeper, Underneath’)

Oxford alt-rockers Civil Villains have set a release date of May 8th for their second album, ‘A Sleeper, Underneath’.

Set to be released through Thundersnuff Records, the record promises to build on the trio’s angular guitars, dynamic structures, and rhythmic unpredictability to something more with immediacy. As a preview, they have released a double A-side single consisting of ‘High Achievers’ and ‘Shadow Weight’.

The former is a sturdy offering with an underlying grit. Vocalist James King files the track under “sardonic social commentary,” explaining that the track “was born in a generator-powered, converted cowshed in Hampshire. The chorus riff had previously been abandoned after we tried to cram it into too many songs, but we’d never tested it as a lyrical bed. Turns out it just needed the right home.”

As for ‘Shadow Weight,’ it’s a pensive offering with shimmering guitars that gives way to a strong, plucky conclusion. “‘Shadow Weight’ is a song of two parts, something we’ve done plenty of before, but this may be our most successful attempt,” explains King. “The first half is based on an idea I’ve carried around forever; the second is entirely Mark (Hudson)’s beautiful construction. Part eulogy, part dream-state. On some level, I think the lyrics were subconsciously influenced by watching X-Men ’97.”
