Rising alt-metallers\u00a0Mallavora<\/strong> have returned with a new track called\u00a0‘Smile’<\/em>. It’s fiery number sees the quartet pour their rage at society\u2019s continued mistreatment of Disabled people. It’s a topic close to the band, with vocalist Jessica Douek living with fibromyalgia. It\u00a0sees Mallavora<\/strong><\/span> batter through with fury and metallic might, as they deliver their first release on\u00a0Church Road Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The track also coincides with 30 years since the 1995 Disability Discrimination Act was introduced.\u00a0‘Smile’<\/em> rips into the ongoing contradiction of the law, as people with Disability continue to be tokenised and sidelined. In short, it sees Mallavora\u00a0<\/strong>at their most confrontational.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWe wanted to capture the urgency, fury, and righteous rage we feel about how society continues to treat Disabled people,” <\/em>the band said.<\/p>\n

Ever since their formation in 2020, Mallavora<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>have been advocates for improved accessibility<\/a> within the music industry, especially in the live sector. This includes committing to only headlining venues accessible enough for them and their audience.\u00a0\u201cThe industry, as it currently is, isn\u2019t sustainable for us with what we’re dealing with,\u201d<\/em> says Jessica. \u201cThere\u2019s an existential worry that we won\u2019t be able to have the career we want unless we forge this change ourselves.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n
