Drain – \u2026Is Your Friend<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although some are fine-tuning their end-of-year lists already, there’s still plenty of new releases coming out with this #NewMusicFriday<\/b> being no exception. There is a mixed bag of choices available to consume. If you want to gnarly hardcore thrash, then look no further than DRAIN<\/strong> and their new album, ‘\u2026Is Your Friend’<\/em>. Meanwhile, ahead of their headline slot at\u00a0Outbreak<\/strong><\/a> next summer,\u00a0Alexisonfire<\/strong> have paid tribute to some of their inspirations with\u00a0‘Copies Of Old Masters: Volume 1’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

When it comes to homegrown music, the return of\u00a0Pupil Slicer<\/strong> is a welcome one. Their third album,\u00a0‘Fleshwork,’<\/em> is a viscerally sharp outing, turning the brutality a notch. Its bruising nine tracks are full of anguish, allowing the trio to paint a picture of an\u00a0all-encompassing industrial hellscape. In comparison, Leeds post-hardcore quartet Caskets\u00a0<\/strong>continue to leave a lasting impression. On their third full-length outing,\u00a0‘The Only Heaven You\u2019ll Know,’<\/em> they struggle to develop a distinguishable identity, resulting in a collection that comfortably plays it safe.<\/p>\n

Longtime UK underground emo group,\u00a0The Maple State<\/strong>, return with their original line-up after 17 years on\u00a0‘Don’t Take Forever’<\/em>. The Manchester quartet humbly deliver a record that reflects on lost time, friendship, and mental health struggles. It’s paired with vibrant hooks and a sound rooted in 90s indie rock and midwest emo. Brighton DIY group, Give Up<\/strong>, inject harmonious shoegaze into their brand of fuzzy indie punk on second EP, ‘The Possibility That Love Is Not Enough’<\/em>. Tracks such as\u00a0\u2018Long For Your Touch\u2019\u00a0<\/em>thrive on urgency, whereas the heartbreaking ‘Daisy’<\/em> highlights Give Up<\/strong>‘s sonic texture.<\/p>\n

Further afield,\u00a0Set It<\/strong> Off<\/strong>‘s self-titled album sees them pivot into alt-metal territory with expected slick, albeit unimpressive, results. Canadian pop-rockers\u00a0Bearings<\/strong> pack a punch on ‘Comfort Company’<\/em>. Their fourth full-length delivers an abundance of energy. While newcomers Unwell<\/strong>\u00a0show plenty of potential on their debut album, ‘Allegoria’<\/em>. The Detroit-formed quartet weaves in dramatic storytelling to a sound that spans across muscular alt-rock, soaring pop-punk, and melodic post-hardcore.<\/p>\n

For the more “seasoned” names, it’s the time of year to treat loyal fans with a special release. Whether that’s\u00a0Frank Turner<\/strong> delivering another collection of covers, radio session tracks, acoustic renditions and collaborations, ‘The Next Ten Years,’\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0Slash<\/strong> releasing a live album, or Caligula\u2019s Horse<\/strong> celebrating the 10th anniversary of ‘Bloom’<\/em>. Whereas both\u00a0Northlane<\/strong> and\u00a0Thornhill<\/strong> go down the remix route on\u00a0‘Node: Reloaded’<\/em> and\u00a0‘Bodies X’<\/em> respectively.<\/p>\n

There are also new releases from Portugal The Man<\/strong>, Armor For Sleep<\/strong>,\u00a0White Lies<\/strong>,\u00a0Agnostic Front<\/strong>, Astronoid<\/strong>, Finger Eleven<\/strong>, The Devil’s Trade<\/strong>, Rituals<\/strong>, and more out today.<\/p>\n
