Reworking previous single of the same name, <em>\u2018Skydancer\u2019<\/em> now features a welcome interlude from Jonathan Vigil of The Ghost Inside. Guest spots aplenty, their third full-length showcases not only <strong>In Hearts Wake<\/strong>\u2019s talent, but also that of their comprehensive phonebook.<\/p>\n<p>A brief atmospheric opener <em>&lsquo;Aether&rsquo;<\/em> soon steps aside as for the crushing heaviness of <em>\u2018Skydancer\u2019<\/em>, bearing a compelling solo alongside The Ghost Inside frontman Jonathan Vigil\u2019s trademark doom-laced growls. Similarly, towering lead single <em>\u2018Breakaway\u2019<\/em>, the anthem of survival against all odds, embraces a contrast of unbridled screams and lulling cleans to culminate in a beautiful chaos.<!-- more --><\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p><em>\u201cI can\u2019t stop hearing these voices,\u201d<\/em> cries <em>\u2018Insomnia\u2019<\/em>, driving a cry for help from a lucid dream. Amid racing fretwork and menacing whispers, a limitless rage pours through <em>\u2018Cottonmouth\u2019<\/em>, while frontman Jake Taylor spits with unrivalled venom, <em>\u201cyour life is under attack.\u201d<\/em> The cracking guitar solo of <em>\u2018Oblivion\u2019<\/em> combined with the unrelenting gang vocals of <em>\u2018Badlands\u2019<\/em> cements the quintet\u2019s versatility beyond doubt.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the booming intro to <em>\u2018Intrepid\u2019<\/em>, Marcus Bridge of Northlane brings a melodious calm before the storm of relentless growls. <em>\u2018Erase\u2019<\/em>, showcasing Ben Marvin and J Hurley of Hacktivist, on the other hand, emerges as the black sheep of the family, as a rather misplaced rap interlude disjoints the rage bursting from guitarists Ben and Eaven.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI can feel the fire spreading from beneath my feet,\u201d<\/em> screams <em>\u2018Wildfire\u2019<\/em>, projecting Kyle Erich\u2019s cleans to the fore while a contagious riff riles up a relentless force to be reckoned with.
