Today, the New Yorkers have shared <i>&#8216;Hotwire Trip Switch<\/i>&#8216;s opening track, <i>&#8217;24-03-04_BIRTHDAY_B4&#8242;<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>The track was written and completed on a mushroom-filled day, and is influenced by what vocalist\/guitarist Kory Gregory calls <i>&#8220;best birthday ever&#8221;<\/i>. The track sees the versatile UK artist team up with <strong>Corey Taylor<\/strong> of <strong>Slipknot<\/strong> and <strong>Stone Sour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Capturing a newfound vulnerability with a familiar intensity, the track is executed with fearlessness. For <b>Kid Bookie<\/b>, <i>&#8216;Blame&#8217;<\/i> sees him take accountability for his ego, allowing himself to grow.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;Over the years, facing myself and the reflection that comes with the mirror isn\u2019t always an easy one. Accountability is the removal of ego and pride to see beyond your own nose, to allow yourself the room to grow via ownership of your actions. I\u2019m around some of the best people who practise that in more ways than one,&#8221;<\/i> says <b>Bookie<\/b>. He also explains that he and Corey Taylor have been working together for close to a decade.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;I feel this record is a coming of age, even for us. New territory, but a familiar approach to make sure we embolden each other through music. This song is almost a therapy session for me, and not just via my own lyrics, but to how Corey has made me feel by exposing himself so bare in this record, truly an honour to keep pushing the envelope with someone who has just pushed it as far as it can go, but has completely revamped what the envelope fucking is.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>On the collaboration, <b>Corey Taylor<\/b> shared, <i>&#8220;Books is one of my favourite people, not just artists, and every time he comes to me with an opportunity to create with him, I\u2019m always excited because I know I\u2019m going to hear something I\u2019ve never heard before. \u2018Blame\u2019 was so good the first time I heard it, I signed on without even knowing what I\u2019d do! It&#8217;s set for release on 24th April via <b>Sumerian Records<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The news follows a series of singles, the latest being <i>&#8216;Blasphemous Act&#8217;<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Much like previous tracks <i>&#8216;Fire In The Night Sky Forever&#8217;<\/i>, <i>&#8216;Lady Lazarus&#8217;<\/i>, and <i>&#8216;Nothing Is Original,&#8217;,<\/i> the album opener is a fiery slice of intense hardcore with a chaotic execution. Even though its title comes from a Magic: The Gathering card. Vocalist Piper Ferrari explains that the track goes to a darker place.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201c\u2018Blasphemous Act\u2019 was the last song we wrote for the record, and it hit with such ferocity that it forced its way onto the album in the eleventh hour. The name came from a Magic: The Gathering card, but the song took on a life of its own \u2014 this unhinged, teeth-bared spiral of obsession and retribution. Lines like &#8220;your neck in my teeth is all that I need&#8221; and &#8220;karma is owed, paid in full&#8221; captured a darker, more primal side of the band that we didn&#8217;t even know we were still capable of tapping into. Vocalist James King files the track under\u00a0<em>&#8220;sardonic social commentary,&#8221;<\/em> explaining that the\u00a0<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">track<em> &#8220;was<\/em><\/span><em>\u00a0born in a generator-powered, converted cowshed in Hampshire. The chorus riff had previously been abandoned after we tried to cram it into too many songs, but we\u2019d never tested it as a lyrical bed. Turns out it just needed the right home.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As for\u00a0<em>&#8216;Shadow Weight,&#8217;<\/em> it&#8217;s a pensive offering with shimmering guitars that gives way to a strong, plucky conclusion.\u00a0<em>\u201c\u2018Shadow Weight\u2019 is a song of two parts, something we\u2019ve done plenty of before, but this may be our most successful attempt,&#8221;<\/em> explains King. <em>&#8220;The first half is based on an idea I\u2019ve carried around forever; the second is entirely Mark (Hudson)\u2019s beautiful construction. Part eulogy, part dream-state.
