It\u2019s the on-trend sloth on the cover of the EP, the quirky press release that\u2019s just a list of different scrapes the band have got into and the liberal use of brackets (every song has brackets \u2013 it\u2019s infectious), that makes it seem that <strong>Still Bust<\/strong> are desperate to stand out from the crowd.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a shame really, as all this peacocking obscures the heart of what makes\u00a0<em>\u201977 for You (55 for Me)\u2019<\/em>\u00a0a good EP, filled with original guitar work, interesting time signatures and unexpected breakdowns \u2013 all layered with gravelly vocals that would seem more at home on a punk album. It\u2019s a challenge to listen to, but in a rewarding way, with each play uncovering a new element.<!-- more --><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mattrecords.bandcamp.com\/album\/77-for-you-57-for-me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">77 for you (57 for me) by Matt Records<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0It\u2019s not instantly accessible, taking a few repeat listens to really get drawn into the lyrics but once submerged <em>\u201977 for You (55 for Me)\u2019<\/em> is addictive and unexpected. From the false finish <em>in \u2018Twenty Foot (Broken Foot)\u2019<\/em>, to the way <em>\u2018I\u2019ve Never Been More Happy to Have a Hypo (However This Could Mean I Have Irreparable Knee Damage)\u2019<\/em> flows into the final track, <strong>Still Bust<\/strong> are constantly challenging expectations.\u00a0 The stripped down section of six-minute opus <em>\u2018Twenty Foot (Broken Foot)\u2019 <\/em>is the absolute highlight of the EP, enjoyable in the way it lures the listener to expect the end of the track, only to crash into a further three minutes of heavy, mind-blowing noise.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, <strong>Still Bust\u2019s<\/strong> EP is a short, sharp shock, different from anything currently out there.
