Records<\/b> will be celebrating it\u2019s 100th release, and to keep with the labels tradition, it\u2019s a unique one &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/post\/85908884362\/alcopop-records-announce-100th-release-set-to\">a re-release of <b>Len<\/b>\u2019s 1999 \u201cone-hit wonder\u201d \u2019<i>Steal My Sunshine\u2019<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To mark the occasion, we thought it\u2019d be a good time to highlight <b>Alcopop!<\/b> and it\u2019s discography for our regular <b>\u201cFives\u201d<\/b> features. However with 100 releases, we didn\u2019t know where to start so we roped in Mr. Alcopop himself &#8211; Jack Clothier.<\/p>\n<p>We gave Jack the horrible task of picking out his 5 favourite <b>Alcopop! Records<\/b> releases. Yes we\u2019re mean bastards for making him do it, but we\u2019re loveable mean bastards right? Anyway here\u2019s Jack and his 5 picks\u2026<\/p>\n<p><i>Asking me to pick out my 5 favourite <b>Alcopop!<\/b> releases is, to be honest, an impossibility. I love all of these records like my children and there\u2019s no way I could pick a stack of favourites. So \u2013 just for Sean and the rest of Already Heard, here\u2019s 5 records I think anyone beginning a journey to the technicolour world of Alcopop! should try. Let\u2019s say it\u2019s an indication of what we do!<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/tumblr_inline_ml276ujWOh1qztcot.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><b>Stagecoach &#8211; Say Hi To The Band<\/b><br \/>\nLong term, recently deceased but nevertheless as beautiful as the setting sun over Havana, these guys bled Alcopop! \u2013 and were arguably (alongside the wonderful My First Tooth) the leaders of what made us into a more \u2018real\u2019 label. This album is full of fizzy-pop soaked moments of genius, wistful gazes into oblivion and a whole chunk of perfectly crafted pop! A must.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/alcopop.bandcamp.com\/album\/say-hi-to-the-band\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Say Hi To The Band by Stagecoach<\/a><!-- more --><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/tumblr_inline_n6z2pzRqMD1qztcot.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><b>Anamanaguchi &#8211; Endless Fantasy<\/b><br \/>\nWe were lucky enough to be asked to work with legendary 8-bit chiptune pop legends <b>Anamanaguchi<\/b> on their album <i>\u2018Endless Fantasy\u2019<\/i> in the UK, and had the BEST time. We got them over here where they played packed out shows at the likes of Heaven and downstairs at The Garage \u2013 and proved why fans loved them enough to invest over $250,000 in their record via Kickstarter. Lovely chaps too, I think this shows the diversity of what we like to do.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/tumblr_inline_n6z2o0oMz71qztcot.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><b>johnny foreigner &#8211; You Can Do Better<\/b><br \/>\nThe first time I was genuinely awe-struck signing a band, JoFo are the most lovely, hard-working, taleneted bunch you could hope to meet, and have been hanging out with us for the last few years. With ethics and morals made of SOLID GOLD, working with people like JoFo is nothing but a joy \u2013 not to mention their hardcore fans who made us feel so welcome. We\u2019ve released a lot of killer JoFo stuff, but you know what \u2013 this album is their BEST work to date!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/tumblr_inline_n6z2m7I0dJ1qztcot.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><b>Alcopopular 6: Highway to the Velodrome<\/b><br \/>\nA compilation, that we released on a \u00a3300 fixie bike. Y\u2019know \u2013 we like doing stuff like that from time to time, and divisive as it proved to me \u2013 most people (and stacks of massive national press) LOVED it. The actual compilation was great, and the fact that there\u2019s people cycling around the UK on Alcopop! bikes never ceases to delight me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/encyclopedia.bandcamp.com\/album\/emily\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emily by Encyclopedia<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Encyclopedia &#8211; Emily<\/b><br \/>\nOH MAN! How could I not include this\u2026 Where it alllll started, Encyclopedia was the joyous, well-packaged pop that made us want to start a label in the first place, and WHAT a hit this was. Still listen to this a LOT! Kev even made a video on Paint that I think is still doing the rounds somewhere. It\u2019s 10 seconds long and looks very 2006. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2AmSpidjp9U\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it certainly is<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>So there\u2019s 5!
