With many bands jumping ship of the genre altogether and others sounded rather dated and out of trend, it&rsquo;s quite nice to come across a band popping up and doing it right. <b>Slaughter To Prevail<\/b> has been a name floating around the depths of hell for a while now, but with this long awaited debut full length finally set to drop it seems that all the hype surrounding them will be worth it. <\/p>\n<p>The frost tipped bite of all those Russian winters must have rubbed off heavily on <b>Slaughter To Prevail<\/b>, because they are coursing with unforgiving bitterness on <i>\u2018Misery Sermon&rsquo;<\/i>. Bringing together classically death metal riffing with splashes of beatdown and metallic hardcore and coating it all in a thoroughly discomforting atmosphere, the band are in frantic and unforgiving form. To control such brutality is a fine art though and there lies the one thing that lets these bruisers down. It&rsquo;s almost like they get a touch carried away as the ferociousness of the music they are creating takes hold and some offerings start to become a touch overindulgent.<\/p>\n<p><!-- more --><\/p>\n<p>Depending on how much punishment you can take this is far from a bad thing, and it doesn&rsquo;t stop the utterly dejected <i>\u2018Failed Hope&rsquo;<\/i> and bloodcurdling <i>\u2018Chronic Slaughter&rsquo;<\/i> from dishing out some of the most disgusting sounds a guitar can make. Once you&rsquo;ve had a taste, it&rsquo;s pretty difficult to not go back for more.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u2018Misery Sermon&rsquo;<\/i> is old school brutality at its most unsettling. Coursing with utter hatred, <b>Slaughter To Prevail<\/b> have made a genre designed to be rough round the edges sound polished and thoroughly modern.
