This week, Atlanta, Georgia’s Microwave<\/b> make their UK debut when they join Real Friends<\/b> and Can’t Swim<\/b> for an eight-date run. Following on from our recent interview<\/a> with Nate Hardy, we asked the vocalist and guitarist to pick 10 of his favourite songs from British acts.<\/p>\n

Nate’s choices covers a wide spectrum of music, as he picks from the world of stoner rock, electronica, psychedelica and more.<\/p>\n

Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats – I’ll Cut You Down<\/h2>\n

This is the “go-to smoke a blunt and drive somewhere” theme song.<\/p>\n

Dinosaur Pile-Up – White T-Shirt and Jeans<\/h2>\n

My favorite song from one of my favorite current bands. They also have a new album which sounds like it has some killer nu-metal influences which I’m really into.<\/p>\n

Aphex Twin – Come To Daddy<\/h2>\n

The video<\/a> for this song and the song itself are so awesome. I listen to more people that are influenced by Aphex Twin<\/b> than I listen directly to Aphex Twin<\/b>, but I have to pay my respects. He’s a genius.<\/p>\n

Radiohead – Reckoner<\/h2>\n

One of my main musical influences and probably one of the main musical influences of rock music in the past 20 years. I love the way songs like this have that groovy polyrhythm that makes you want to dance around a fire with your friends.<\/p>\n

Electric Wizard – Dopethrone<\/h2>\n

It’s so heavy. This band’s bio on Spotify is very fitting. It references their “crippling weed consumption and\/or simple lack of motivation”<\/i> along with lost fingertips and ruptured eardrums as principle reasons behind their past lack of consistent activity as a band. I feel that.<\/p>\n

Mclusky – To Hell with Good Intentions<\/h2>\n

I first heard this song on a fake allergy commercial on Adult Swim and had to look it up. “My love is bigger than your love!”<\/i> It just makes me want to grab a tape measure.<\/p>\n

Gorillaz – 19-2000<\/h2>\n

One of my favorite groups of all time. I first found them when ‘Clint Eastwood’<\/i> was on ‘Now 8’<\/i>. This song is so tight.<\/p>\n

Bloc Party – Positive Tension<\/h2>\n

This whole album (‘Silent Alarm’<\/i>) is awesome. There’s a huge dynamic of different songs and they’re all catchy and hard-hitting. By the second half, you start saying, “damn I forgot they made songs like this too.”<\/i><\/p>\n

Shpongle – Nothing Lasts\u2026<\/h2>\n

This album is cool and trippy and Generation Y as fuck and it uses samples from one of my favorite movies, ‘Waking Life’<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Led Zeppelin – The Ocean<\/h2>\n

If you don’t like Led Zeppelin, chances are you have early-onset dementia. I’m a hypochondriac so I worry about that kind of thing. I don’t believe in God, but when Jimmy Page picks up a guitar, he’s probably the closest thing.<\/p>\n
