Put simply, if they can maintain this quality across their catalog, they won\u2019t go far wrong.<\/p>\n<p>The EP opens with the masterfully atmospheric <em>\u2018Grey\u2019<\/em>, a track that truly does its job of setting the tone. There\u2019s a desperation to the entire piece \u2013 vocals begging, guitars soaring, <em>\u2018Grey\u2019<\/em> tears along gorgeously. <em>\u2018Heavy Head\u2019<\/em> provides more of the same feeling, with a big chorus that I\u2019m sure will find itself shouted back in live settings. To be honest, there aren\u2019t too many sections of <em>\u2018The Thoughts That Weighed Me Down\u2019<\/em> that miss that quality. There\u2019s something arresting about the ways <strong>Hindsights <\/strong>move through their music, something touching that will have the toughest of the tough guys singing along.<!-- more --><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hindsights.bandcamp.com\/album\/the-thoughts-that-weigh-me-down\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Thoughts That Weigh Me Down by Hindsights<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To pick a complaint purely for the sake of avoiding looking a sap, I\u2019ll point out that there isn\u2019t an over abundance of variation throughout this EP \u2013 there\u2019s some, and it\u2019s only five tracks long so, y\u2019know, leave it out \u2013 and given the shortness of some songs there can be some blur between the tunes.<\/p>\n<p>That said, <em>\u2018The Thoughts That Weight Me Down\u2019<\/em> is five tracks of wonderfully crafted emotional music with all the peaks and troughs of life as a 21st Century human being. From the opening to beauty of <em>\u2018Grey\u2019<\/em> to the crushing end of <em>\u2018Daydreams\u2019<\/em> this EP is a joy to behold. There are plenty of lazy parallels to make a moments throughout \u2013 once or twice Title Fight popped into my mind, another couple brought up Basement, and all throughout there are hints of the emo greats \u2013 but, as I\u2019ve mention, these would be lazy parallels. <strong>Hindsights<\/strong> have produced a record that reminds of the greats not because it steals from them, but because it greets them at their level.<\/p>\n<p>Expect big things from both this band and this label.
