For this weeks edition of “Something For The Weekend,” <\/strong>we’ve roped in Tommy Royds from London-based promoters and writers – Zine & Not Heard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Zine & Not Heard<\/strong>\u00a0started out as a paper zine in September 2011 and is now a jack-of-all-trades, being a \u2018fully-fledged\u2019 music blog, distro and name for which we promote DIY shows in London, UK.\u00a0<\/span>Zine & Not Heard<\/strong>\u00a0is Tommy and Joel and we got Tommy to give us 4 bands that he thinks the world needs to know about.<\/span><\/p>\n

His picks are\u00a0Dowsing<\/strong> and Annabel<\/strong>; who are currently on tour together and hitting the UK shores and Segwei<\/strong> and Doe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/span>For Fans Of: Brave Bird, Prawn, Nai Harvest<\/span>
Dowsing<\/strong> are a 5 piece from Ohio who play jangley rollercoaster college rock. On the continual up, the band are part of the infamous Count Your Lucky Stars rooster, and there\u2019s much to said about similarities between them and others on the label. In anticipation of their new LP \u2018I Don\u2019t\u2019 Even Care Anymore\u2019<\/em> the band are currently touring Europe, and it just show happens the next destination on the map is the UK. If you want sunshine and smiles, make sure you head down to your local town and check these guys (and girl) out!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s an emo revival brewing in Calgary via Tokyo and who\u2019s responsible but a small label by the name Revolution Winter. Japan\u2019s Segwei<\/strong> new LP ‘Soul Deep’<\/em> does just what it says on the tin \u2013 exciting, emotional but still groovy as hell. No questions asked and no answers needed, get this on the burner.<\/p>\n

A new group from London, hurrah! Starting a band in the big smoke is one of the most expensive life decisions you could ever make – thankfully DOE<\/strong> haven\u2019t checked their bank balance just yet. With a female up-front DOE<\/strong> follow in the footsteps of the great bulchy 90\u2019s indie greats (a la Pavement, Archers of Loaf) but add some muscle with quirky guitars that veer from left to right, bringing in gutsy vocals that work wonderfully on top. What a delight.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Annabel<\/strong> take you back to the days of running through long fields in short shorts without a worry in the world. Described by some as the modern day Built To Spill, Annabel have all the necessaries needed for such a genre; boisterous drum fills, sweeping guitars and ace vocals too boot. If you missed out on Annabel\u2019s album ‘Youth in Youth’<\/em> last year, then now is the perfect time to get this spinning through summer. If you like what you hear, be sure to check them out this week in the UK as their touring with label mates, Dowsing (see above!).<\/p>\n
