And, while it could have been asinine and insipid, there\u2019s just enough about the gorgeous production and smart arrangements to make <i>\u2018Here Again\u2019<\/i> an engaging and enjoyable listen. Albeit one that&rsquo;s rather lightweight.<\/p>\n<p>It really is hard to do justice just how great <i>\u2018Here Again\u2019<\/i> sounds. <i>\u2018Agoraphobia\u2019<\/i>, for example is simply one of the most gorgeously textured songs you\u2019ll hear all year, overflowing with overlapping vocal lines and a layered arrangement that is so complicated you can get entirely lost in it. Likewise, the driving <i>\u2018Crochet\u2019<\/i> sounds similarly huge; a two-minute pop song dressed up as a stadium anthem. <\/p>\n<p> <!-- more --><\/p>\n<p>Yet, for all this, <i>\u2018Here Again\u2019<\/i> feels like some clever sleight of hand and a masterclass in misdirection. There\u2019s very few notable lyrics \u2013 or even hooks \u2013 that will stay with you for 20 minutes after the album has finished. It means <i>\u2018Here Again\u2019<\/i> feels like an endless saccharine-sweet dessert, fun and enjoyable at the time but a trifle unfulfilling. <\/p>\n<p>It does have its moments of real quality, however. <i>\u2018Better Reluctant\u2019<\/i> marries driving pop-rock with a handsome production job, a winning hook and smart vocals. It\u2019s the closest <i>\u2018Here Again\u2019<\/i> has to a standout moment and is a winner from start to finish. Alongside the title track and the sublime <i>\u2018Crochet\u2019<\/i> it shows <b>A Will Away<\/b> have a real handle on their sound and direction. <\/p>\n<p>Yet, for people who like their indie-rock to push boundaries \u2013 or even just quicken the pulse \u2013 <i>\u2018Here Again\u2019<\/i> is as risk-averse as it gets.
