<\/span>\"\"I\u2019m going to be 100% honest: I am very, very picky about female-fronted bands, as I tend to find that most female vocalists sound so sickeningly sweet that it takes all my effort not to throw my laptop across the room.<\/span><\/p>\n

But Adelaine<\/strong> are so incredibly different to that. Hailing from Texas, this young quintet met in high school and started creating their fresh, vibrant take on powerful rock music. However, it wasn\u2019t until vocalist Stormy Pi\u00f1a joined that everything fell into place. And their storming debut album \u2018Currents\u2019<\/em> proves just how bold they are \u2013 it\u2019s the only thing I\u2019ve been listening to since the album landed in my inbox.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tracks such as \u2018Two Cents\u2019<\/em> and \u2018Tug Of War\u2019<\/em> blend crunching riffs with pulsating drumming; it\u2019s a potent mix, as they\u2019re rather upbeat songs but a darker message lies beneath their frenetic, adrenaline-fuelled tracks. This is evident during single \u2018Bad Blood\u2019<\/em>. A track that writes about lies and forgiveness in relationships, it demonstrates Stormy\u2019s talent as her vocals simply drip with unspoken power, pushing the boundaries of each and every track to its breaking point.<\/span> Bruising, emotional and brutally honest lyrics of \u201cBrace yourself for the fall, it\u2019s going to bruise more than just your ego\u201d come to life during \u2018Let Go\u2019<\/em>. Upon hearing it, it\u2019s not difficult to envisage these tracks being sung back by sweaty, hoarse teenagers in venues packed to the rafters, while edgy guitar riffs explode during <\/span>\u2018Antidote\u2019<\/em> and <\/span>\u2018I Once Knew\u2019<\/em>, with ferocious drumming lifting the tracks up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Melodic hooks sink their claws into your skin, dragging you into a beautiful whirlwind of mighty riffs and saucy guitar licks during \u2018Every Once In a While\u2019<\/em>. Elephantine vocals stand out as \u2018Out Of Line\u2019<\/em> kicks off, with a stripped down bass forming a killer structure for this mighty track.<\/span><\/p>\n

Closing with \u2018Home\u2019<\/em>, Adelaine <\/strong>pull on the heartstrings as they bid adieu. A blistering and emotional track, \u2018Home\u2019<\/em> is wrought with fragile and tender passion as Stormy\u2019s raw, passionate vocals ensure that this young group isn\u2019t forgotten about.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u2018Currents\u2019<\/em> is, quite simply, a wonderful creation and I\u2019ve never heard an album like this. It\u2019s an album that spills over with scalding energy. It\u2019s deliciously dark, with roaring riffs and melodic, soaring vocals that are stunningly unique.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, if someone could do me a massive favour and bring Adelaine <\/strong>to the UK for a tour, then everything would be just perfect.<\/span><\/p>\n
