Its heavy-duty, bluesy riff and pounding kick drives <i>\u2018Black Blood\u2019<\/i> forward. The track opens <i>&#8216;Glitter and Spit\u2019<\/i>, the debut album by <b>The Pearl Harts<\/b>, dripping in attitude and endless hooks. Meeting on the road, Kirsty Lowrey (lead vocals\/guitar) and Sara Leigh Shaw (drums\/vocals), the pair have been playing music on their own terms for a few years.<\/p>\n<p>Thickening up their sound through loops and samples, <b>The Pearl Harts<\/b> have plenty of variety in their tracks. <i>\u2018The Rush\u2019<\/i> swaggers along with vigour and screams female empowerment as Lowrey sings <i>\u201cShe is the rush that\u2019ll run through your blood.\u201d<\/i> <i>\u2018Lara\u2019<\/i> follows and highlights Lowrey\u2019s husky vocals, with a punchy chant and chorus that\u2019ll stick with you.<\/p>\n<p><!-- more --><\/p>\n<p>A lull takes place in <i>\u2018Lost in Time\u2019<\/i>, the ethereal, grungy tone and clean vocals differ from the relentless freneticism of <i>\u2018Hit the Bottle\u2019<\/i> &#8211; just over two minutes of reckless rock \u2018n\u2019 roll.<\/p>\n<p>A further noticeable track is <i>\u2018Skeleton Made of Diamonds\u2019<\/i>. Exuding their effortlessly cool attitude through their signature raw sound, hard-hitting drums and lingering vocals, it showcases exactly what the duo have to offer. <i>\u2018Hurt\u2019<\/i> closes <i>&#8216;Glitter and Spit\u2019<\/i> in the same fashion it started; hard with crunchy riffs and overlapping vocals simply adding to the anticipated build-up and conclusion.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Pearl Harts<\/b> are one of those bands that sound huge beyond their time. The surprising debut <i>\u2018Glitter and Spit\u2019<\/i> is not only incredibly titled, but it contains an immense amount of promise for the duo.
