This week Birmingham pop punk band Light You Up<\/strong> head out on the Atticus Beer<\/strong> UK tour alongside Decade<\/strong>. With two of the UK’s best up and coming pop punk bands sharing the stage, the tour is a must-see. Having played shows alongside A Loss For Words, Set Your Goals, Save Your Breath and more in the past, Light You Up<\/strong> have steadily built up a strong following, and with their latest release, ‘Broke Jaw’<\/strong> receiving praise for its energetic melodies and bold riffs, the quintet are certainly ones to look out for.<\/p>\n

Before hitting the road guitarist Drew Masters took some time out to answer our regular “If I…” questionnaire. Drew told us which Beatle he’d like to play with, which he’d like to see reunite, what other genre of music he would be playing if he wasn’t playing pop punk, and more.<\/p>\n

If I could re-record one song it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: I don’t actually think I would re-record anything that we have done as a band. I definitely think we could have improved many of our old recordings, but we are proud of where we were at when we recorded them.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could re-live one tour\/show it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: New Found Glory\/Fenix TX\/Rx Bandits (Birmingham Academy 2001).<\/em><\/p>\n

If I had the chance to play one venue it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: Wembley Stadium.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could play with one band it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: Foo Fighters.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

If I could play with any person living or dead it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: Sir Paul McCartney.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could bring back any band that have split up, it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: Acceptance.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I wasn’t playing music, I would be…<\/strong>
Drew: In a suit.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could play a different genre it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: Motown.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could have written any song it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: ‘Yesterday’ by The Beatles.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could have written any album it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: ‘Pet Sounds’ by The Beach Boys.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could headline any festival, it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: Reading and Leeds Festival.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could organise my own festival, the bands playing would be…<\/strong>
Drew: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World, Weezer, Blink 182, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Police, Acceptance and Light You Up of course.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could play any other instrument, it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: Piano.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could give one piece of advice to a new band, it would be…<\/strong>
Drew: Enjoy the music. Everything else is is important, but everything else is secondary.<\/em><\/p>\n
