Hailing from the Surrey\/Essex area Searching Alaska<\/strong> boasts big choruses, catchy sing alongs and atmospheric numbers in their arsenal, and this week they head out on their first tour alongside alt-rockers Fenrir<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Combining the powerful vocals of Christina Rotondo with stiff guitar riffs and strong, catchy choruses, Searching Alaska\u00a0<\/strong>have a lot going for themselves.<\/p>\n

Bassist Damien Mole recently took some time out to take part in our “If I…”<\/strong> questionnaire. Damien spoke about his admiration forJohn Frusciante and La Dispute, which London venue he’d like to play and more.<\/p>\n

If I could re-record one song it would be\u2026<\/strong>
Damien Mole: ‘A Glass Case of Emotion’ off of our ‘Summits’ EP, spice it up and make it more our own sound.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could re-live one tour\/show it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: Either our first Headline show or our first London show at the Garage.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I had the chance to play one venue it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: It was the Astoria but thats been knocked down now, so I’d have to say The Electric Ballroom in Camden.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could play with one band it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: La Dispute, the amount of passion they put into their shows would be tough to beat but inspiring.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

If I could play with any person living or dead it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: John Frusciante the former guitarist from The Red Hot Chili Peppers, such an amazing musician.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could bring back any band that have split up, it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: Fugazi.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I wasn\u2019t playing music, I would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: A lot richer but not as happy\/probably more insane.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could play a different genre it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: I really like old school hip hop so maybe something like that would be cool.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could have written any song it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: ‘A Little Less “Sixteen Candles” a little more “Touch Me”’ by Fall Out Boy, that song is just so brilliant in so many ways.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could have written any album it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: ‘Deja Entendu’ by Brand New or ‘The Empyrean’ by John Frusciante, both sonically and lyrically brilliant.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could headline any festival, it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: Reading!<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could organise my own festival, the bands playing would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: This is tough! I’d say\u00a0<\/em>Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/em>, La Dispute, Brand New, The Elijah, At the Drive-In, You Me at Six and ofcourse Searching Alaska!<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could play any other instrument, it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: I’d love to be able to sing! Our vocalist Christina has one of the most amazing voices I’ve ever heard, I’d like to be able to sing like that.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could give one piece of advice to a new band, it would be\u2026<\/strong>
DM: Only make music with people you love, you spend a lot of time with them and you get to experience some amazing things that you’ll only want to share with people you love.<\/em><\/p>\n
