{"id":30927,"date":"2013-02-18T12:32:05","date_gmt":"2013-02-18T12:32:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/album-review-foxfires-the-golden-age-ep\/"},"modified":"2018-03-11T01:29:44","modified_gmt":"2018-03-11T01:29:44","slug":"album-review-foxfires-the-golden-age-ep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/album-review-foxfires-the-golden-age-ep\/","title":{"rendered":"Album Review: Foxfires &#8211; The Golden Age EP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/foxfiresep.jpg\" title=\"\">If you remember the name Josh Lyford, your first thought may be of the keyboardist who was once part of the summery, pop-punk group Four Year Strong<em>. <\/em>However, I suggest you banish all thoughts of any sweet sing-a-longs and bouncy choruses because Josh is back with his new hardcore band\u00a0<strong>Foxfires<\/strong>, and their new EP <em>\u2018The Golden Age\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span>Clocking in at just less than ten minutes, <\/span><em>\u2018The Golden Age\u2019<\/em><span> is choc-full of frantic riffs, as opening track<\/span><em> \u2018One Coin\u2019<\/em><span> demonstrates, with its blistering adrenaline merged with raspy vocals before kicking into <em>\u2018It Was A Journey\u2019.<!-- more --><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Breakneck drumming in<em> \u2018Black, White Birch\u2019<\/em> ups the tempo, and is definitely one that will be kick-starting moshpits.<em> \u2018Gravity Is Honesty\u2019<\/em> and <em>\u2018Good Fences\u2019<\/em>, the two longest tracks of the EP, throw hypersonic riffs and guttural vocals together \u2013 an excellent mix that\u2019s so powerful, it feels like a foot\u2019s been taken to the face.<\/p>\n<p>Signing off with<em> \u2018Nostrum\u2019<\/em>, another blinding track that goes out with a bang, not a fizzle, <strong>Foxfires <\/strong>have produced a rather stellar EP. <em>\u2018The Golden Age\u2019<\/em> is nothing brilliant or new, but it\u2019s a solid set of hardcore that will definitely please people.
