Our latest\u00a0instalment\u00a0of If I…“<\/strong> sees us speaking to guitarist Alex Sumner from Derby Post-Hardcore band A World Defined<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the release of their\u00a0d\u00e9but\u00a0EP, ‘Welcome In This Feeling’\u00a0<\/em>last year, the band brought together their love for music and art with the end result being a combination of aggressive vocals and raw guitar hooks.<\/p>\n

The band are currently preparing its follow and will begin recording in March.<\/p>\n

In the mean time guitarist Alex took some time out to take part in our ongoing "If I…”<\/strong> interview sees which sees band responding to a series of questions simply beginning with “If I…”<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could re-record one song it would be…<\/strong>
Alex Sumner: I’m going to be cheeky; i would love to re-record a song called All That Follows You which we released on a demo in 2010. probably still one of my favourites!<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could re-live one tour\/show it would be…<\/strong>
AS: Out of all the shows we have played, I would probably want to relive one of the first shows we did from years back. Local show, stage diving, terrible sound but so much fun.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I had the chance to play one venue it would be…<\/strong>
AS: The House of Blues over in the States without a doubt.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

If I could play with one band it would be…<\/strong>
AS: Underoath!<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could play with any person living or dead it would be…<\/strong>
AS: Charlie Mingus (old school blues\/jazz player).<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could bring back any band that have split up, it would be…<\/strong>
AS: Recently there’s been too many awesome bands split but I’d have to say Thrice or The Ghost of a Thousand. <\/em><\/p>\n

If I wasn’t playing music, I would be…<\/strong>
AS: a pyhysiotherapist or something sporty.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could play a different genre it would be…<\/strong>
AS: Hard one but I’ve gotta go with real old underground blues.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could have written any song it would be…<\/strong>
AS: Papa Roach – Between Angels and Insects.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could have written any album it would be…<\/strong>
AS: Underoath – Define The Great Line or (touchy one) Lostprophets – Start Something.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could headline any festival, it would be…<\/strong>
AS: Warped Tour, You had to ask!?<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could organise my own festival, the bands playing would be…<\/strong>
AS: Underoath, Alexisonfire, Thrice, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Defeater, Everytime I Die, Deftones, Circa Survive, In Fear and Faith and a lot of good friends like Violet, Skies In Motion, Laguna Sunrise, Floods, Apparently We Fly, Memories and The Secret Year.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could play any other instrument, it would be…<\/strong>
AS: The Harp.<\/em><\/p>\n

If I could give one piece of advice to a new band, it would be…<\/strong>
AS: Get yourself in to a good studio and get a group of songs your happy with THEN start gigging them tracks rather than the other way around.<\/em><\/p>\n
