The debt, rumoured to be up to \u00a3176 million,\u00a0<span>has to be purchased in order for any company to take full control of <strong>HMV<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However due to the hight street retailer falling into\u00a0<\/span>administration<span>\u00a0last week, <strong>Hilco<\/strong> have purchased the debt for just \u00a340 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Hilco<\/strong> made the following statement:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHilco UK confirms that it has acquired HMV\u2019s debt from the Group\u2019s lenders. It has not bought the business itself. Hilco believes there to be a viable underlying HMV business and will now be working closely with Deloitte who, as Administrators, are reviewing the business to determine future options\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>In related news a<\/span>\u00a0number of supermarkets are reportedly looking to convert HMV outlets into convenience stores. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/miscellaneous\/68344\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>NME<\/strong> reports<\/a>\u00a0<span><strong>Morrisons<\/strong>, <strong>Tesco<\/strong> and <strong>Sainsbury&rsquo;s<\/strong> have all shown interest in purchasing<\/span><span>\u00a0up to half HMV&rsquo;s 230 stores.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HMV&rsquo;s debt has been bought by &lsquo;restructuring specialist&rsquo; Hilco.
