\"\"My knowledge of Danish indie-folk is limited to none yet with the recent success of fellow Scandinavian Of Monsters and Men, I was interested to see what\u00a0Copenhagen’s curiously named The White Album<\/strong> had to offer. Although they’re named after a Beatles album, the trio’s debut mini-album ‘Conquistador’<\/em> is a soft, quiet affair that at times echoes Bon Iver.<\/p>\n

Opener ‘Counting Treasures’<\/em> is a slow-burning, haunting number that gently eases you into the record with light harmonies from all three members delicately complimenting one another. Whilst ‘Seventeen’<\/em> is a light, playful track with intertwining, gentle strings.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

After the brief acapella interlude that is ‘Trenches,’<\/em> ‘Seasons End’<\/em> provides a wistful, compelling moment that delicately draws you in with its all-round rich, earthy tone. It’s certainly a highlight of the EP with other stand out moment coming in the form of ‘Your Mouth Is A Fist.’<\/em> It’s slow, stripped-down build up to a organic\u00a0euphoric\u00a0point with distant drums compliments the bands warming melodies.<\/p>\n

With the winter months ahead, ‘Conquistador’<\/em> is the ideal release for the season, it’s dark, haunting tone fits well for cold, sombre nights as The White Album<\/strong> have provided a\u00a0concise\u00a0collection of promising,\u00a0minimalistic songs.<\/p>\n
