\"\"Legends Bowling For Soup<\/strong> have teamed up with The Dollyrots<\/strong> and Patent Pending<\/strong> to release brand new compilation album \u2018One Big Happy.\u2019<\/em> The ten track record consists of new songs by each band along with covers of each other\u2019s songs, overall conjuring up a fairly unique concept for a release. \u2018One Big Happy\u2019<\/em> also coincides with the One Big Happy Tour which sees all three bands travelling the UK & Ireland together.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start off with Bowling For Soup<\/strong>, who kick start the record with their brand new track \u2018Let\u2019s Go To The Pub.\u2019<\/em> This track is very relatable to say the least, with its overly infectious and interactive lyrics: \u201cWe do this every weekend, we can never get enough, let\u2019s go to the pub, pub!\u201d<\/em> Its rhythm section is very typical Bowling For Soup but it\u2019s what they\u2019re good at, producing non-serious, fun natured tracks. The band also cover The Dollyrots \u2018My Heart Explodes\u2019<\/em> and Patent Pending\u2019s \u2018Spin Me Around,\u2019<\/em> both of which they interpret fantastically.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Up next is The Dollyrots<\/strong>, who I personally can\u2019t take much of a liking to. All three tracks that they recorded for the release: their own \u2018Just Like All the Rest;\u2019<\/em> Bowling for Soup\u2019s \u2018The Bitch Song;\u2019<\/em> and Patent Pending\u2019s \u2018Little Miss Impossible\u2019<\/em> are all very credible but for me it\u2019s the vocal style that I\u2019m not a fan of. Musically the band is talented and works well with their genre but I would like them much more if the tone of the vocals was better suited.<\/p>\n

Patent Pending<\/strong> is probably my favourite band on the record, releasing their brand new track \u2018Psycho in Love\u2019<\/em> along with Bowling For Soup\u2019s \u2018Shut Up And Smile\u2019<\/em> and The Dollyrots \u2018Hyperactive.<\/em>\u2019 Their best track is their version of \u2018Shut Up And Smile,\u2019<\/em> where their harmonies at the beginning and their interpretation in general make for a fantastic cover. For me it\u2019s the standout track on the record.<\/p>\n

\u2018Love Ya, Love Ya, Love Ya\u2019<\/em> ends the record, performed by Jaret Reddick (Bowling For Soup) and Kelly Ogden (The Dollyrots.) This collaboration works in their favour, playing off each other and producing a worthy one off track.<\/p>\n

\u2018One Big Happy\u2019<\/em> is a very easy listening, sing-a-long record that is a dream for any Bowling For Soup<\/strong>, The Dollyrots<\/strong> and\/or Patent Pending<\/strong> fan. It\u2019s a really great concept that brings three bands together, all of whom were good friends to begin with. If you like one of the bands on the album then chances are you\u2019ll like the other two: with the band\u2019s interpretations complimenting the original versions, \u2018One Big Happy\u2019<\/em> makes for a good release with an even better concept.<\/p>\n
