\"\"Picking up where they left off with 2011’s ‘Engines’<\/em> EP,\u00a0Newcastle Upon Tyne’s Boy Jumps Ship<\/strong> have once again produced a bold collection of anthemic alt-rock in ‘Be Good. Be Gracious.’<\/em><\/p>\n

From the start the quartet showcase their ability to produce big choruses with recent single ‘Black Hearts Don\u2019t Beat’<\/em>. However the band subtly show a mature dynamic and sensibly avoid going down the\u00a0overall\u00a0pop-rock route, yet as shown on ‘Better Days’<\/em> the band aren’t afraid to keep the momentum going as they deliver another thriving, confident number with introspective lyrics, which once again are focused and appreciative.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Whilst lyrically BJS show maturity, musically they have a youthful exciting zest to their sound that shines through on tracks like ‘Fugitives.’ <\/em>It’s clear by this point the band are full of confidence, and rightly so as‘Be Good. Be Gracious.’\u00a0<\/em>sees a band more concentrated and focused having\u00a0benefited\u00a0from both time as a band. Whilst the production work of Peter Miles has also helped the band on here.<\/p>\n

Although the (obvious) comparisons of Biffy Clyro and Twin Atlantic may still be there for some; they’re all from the North so they all soundalike right? Boy Jumps Ships put in a great effort it making their mark on ‘Be Good. Be Gracious.’<\/em> as it sees the band develop with brimming confidence, catchy lyrics and explosive hooks. Surely bigger things await for this Geordie four-piece?<\/p>\n
