\"\"Back with their first album in eight years, Hot Water Music<\/strong>’s “comeback” record is one that has high expectations by some but thankfully ‘Exister’<\/em> delievers in abundance with its bold, urgent tone that is constant throughout. From the opening of ‘Mainline,’<\/em> HWM steamroll their way through with memorable melodies and Chuck Ragan’s nearly-fammiliar rough vocals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Whilst ‘Boy, You’re Gonna Hurt Someone’<\/em> has a suitable crispness that is ideal for HWM and brings out the best in their sound. ‘State Of Grace’<\/em> and ‘Drown In It’<\/em> sees the band carry on their momentum, while ’Drag My Body’<\/em> sees the band retret the tempo momentarily before busrting through with urgency.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It is this same urgency that makes the title-track a standout moment; its fast-tempo and balls out punk rock guitars along with Ragan’s raw, passionate vocals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is also a credit to HWM for sticking to their roots, as ‘Exister’<\/em> is a consistent record that doesn’t strecth the bands ability, and although moments such as ‘Pledge Wore Thin’<\/em> gives the record a slight country twinge, its no doubt that is a through and through punk rock record from a band that truly care about each and every track.<\/p>\n

Fans of the punk rock should and will probably welcome this with open arms, and they have no reason not to. A thriving, consistent record from a band who jump straight back on track from the get go, rather than one who are simply making a cash-fueled comeback.<\/p>\n
