\"\"I think here at Already Heard, we’ve mentioned Rise Records and their shift to signing pop punk\/punk bands too many times recently. I suppose it’s just quite a juxtaposition from their usual post-hardcore\/metalcore bands that usually boast proudly in their roster. But let’s not forget them, especially when they’re producing these hidden beauties such as the latest LP by My Ticket Home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

‘To Create A Cure’<\/em> is, honestly, much better than I expected it to be. I thought it was going to be a generic kind of screamo\/metalcore record that would fit better circa 2006 and that this review would be quite bleak due to representing that. Please appreciate my honesty as it’s that helps to highlight the fact that we should never judge a book by it’s cover, or a band by their label. Clearly Rise Records know who to sign as this LP does help My Ticket Home<\/strong> stand out from the rest of their label mates.<\/p>\n

This album does have it’s absolutely ferocious moments of blistering speed and aggression with songs such as ‘A New Breed’<\/em> (which does seem an aptly fitting description for the band, but there are some ballad-esque type songs where singing leads the album and they do help to break up the album and bring it this mix of raw and melodic across all its songs. I think I would personally prefer more of their raw songs as they’re pretty damn good at it, but these more melodic vocal moments are definitely worth your time and attention as well, so don’t skip over them.<\/p>\n

I do think Rise Records have a winner here. A solid album from a not typically generic band. It’s good to know that there is a unique aspect that can be brought to the table and My Ticket Home<\/strong> should be ones to keep an eye on for the future. Trust Rise Records<\/strong> in what they’re doing and never judge a book by it’s cover.<\/p>\n
