Meet Carridale<\/strong>, the energetic pop punk quintet from Decatur, Alabama. With two previous releases: \u2018Attack of the BRO-Bots: Redux\u2019<\/em> (2009) & \u2018Relapse in the River City\u2019<\/em> (2011), not to mention the recently released \u2018Your Shoes Don\u2019t Match Your Skeleton\u2019<\/em>, Carridale are a band to watch out for.<\/p>\n Gracing the UK for the first time, Already Heard managed to catch up with the band to talk about their current tour and the well-anticipated new EP, ‘The Wandering.’<\/em><\/p>\n Already Heard: So you\u2019re in the middle of your UK tour, is this the first time you guys have played over here? <\/strong>Wayne Wilson (bass): Yes, first time ever and it\u2019s been a blast. I\u2019m pretty sure I can speak for everybody when I say that we love it and it\u2019s the best thing that has happened to this band, in my opinion at least. It\u2019s incredible, definitely different, a culture shock.<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Wayne: Walking everywhere and definitely the road systems.<\/em>
Kyle Thorstad (rhythm guitar): But as far as playing goes it\u2019s just like a mirror image really. I mean everybody looks the same, acts the same you know; when they see a fresh band they\u2019re into it. But yeah, playing here is awesome.<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Kyle: Yes we went to where Tolkien wrote \u2018The Hobbit\u2019, we went to C S Lewis\u2019 grave and we went to Oxford.<\/em>
Wayne: We went to the bar where C S Lewis and Tolkien hung out and pretty much just shared stories. Me and Nathan love \u2018Lord of the Rings\u2019, we love \u2018The Hobbit\u2019, so we kind of nerded out on that and I don\u2019t think anybody else really cared!<\/em>
Kyle: We ate Turkish Delight at the graveside…<\/em>
Wayne: It was not good.<\/em>
Kyle: I loved it; I thought it was super good. <\/em>
Wayne: It tastes as if you\u2019ve eaten the biggest piece of petroleum jelly and it\u2019s disgusting, it\u2019s terrible.<\/em>
<\/strong><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Kyle: Yeah they\u2019re awesome, their music is great as well and I would definitely recommend checking those guys out, they\u2019re from South Wales.<\/em>
Wayne: I\u2019m not sure how to pronounce their hometown but they\u2019re from South Wales.<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Wayne: I\u2019ll let you get this one!<\/em>
Kyle: Three words. Let\u2019s see…I guess like super funny and entertaining.<\/em>
Wayne: That\u2019s four!<\/em>
Kyle: (pause) \u2018and\u2019 dang-it. Okay, funny and entertaining.<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Wayne: Over here, everybody knows our new CD \u2018Relapse…\u2019 Back home it seems that everybody kinda likes the old record \u2018Attack of the BRO-Bots\u2019 so it\u2019s a lot different. I guess as far as what gets the crowd going I would say \u2018Relapse in the River City\u2019 or \u2018Circular Logic\u2019.<\/em>
Kyle: Yeah we usually close up the set with \u2018Relapse in the River City\u2019, that\u2019s pretty energetic, I just really like it \u2018cause it\u2019s really upbeat and real catchy.<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Wayne: I unfortunately have to go back to work, I owe a lot of money to my parents who I love to death, but yeah, the plane ticket was pretty expensive. So I\u2019m pretty much going to be working.<\/em>
Kyle: As far as the band goes we\u2019ll be at home for about a month and then we\u2019ll leave with a band called The Tired & True and Latin for Truth and these bands are super awesome too. We\u2019re going to do about a month long tour with them and that\u2019s just going to be in the States<\/em>.<\/p>\n
<\/strong>Wayne: We have announced that we have a new EP and it’s out on May 1st.<\/p>\n
<\/strong>Kyle: Like 100%.<\/em>
Wayne: It\u2019s a lot different, it\u2019s darker almost and to me, it kind of shows more emotion and I love music that shows real, raw emotion. Whether you can connect with it or not it shows that somebody actually cares about it and that\u2019s shown in the new stuff. <\/em>
Kyle: It\u2019s still very energetic though and there are a lot more notes played than chords so it\u2019s a bit more progressive.<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Kyle: Yes, \u2018Your Shoes Don\u2019t Match Your Skeleton\u2019 is on iTunes and it\u2019s only 79p!<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Wayne: I\u2019m a lot different from the band. <\/em>
Kyle: But collectively we like The Swellers, Secret Lives! Of The Freemasons.<\/em>
Wayne: You\u2019ve got to get down to Hatebreed, I think everybody should like Hatebreed.<\/em>
Kyle: We also like The Deftones.<\/em>
Wayne: I\u2019ll just go ahead and throw this out there \u2018cause I know Nathan will, Bayside.<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Kyle: We want to do a lot more tours outside the US, because this is too much fun. I want to tour Japan and Australia for sure, and that\u2019s within our grasp, we can do that. And we want to find a record label where we can mutually benefit from each other. <\/em>
Wayne: Definitely still doing full US tours and getting hooked up with some of the best bands out there, whether they\u2019re yet to be discovered or the biggest bands right now. Pretty much meeting new people and new bands, we still want to do that.<\/em><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Nathan Edwards (vocals): We write songs without trying to pigeon-hole ourselves into a genre, and what comes out is sometimes fast, sometimes heavy and always at least a little bit fun!<\/em> \u00a0<\/p>\n
