On the surface, it\u2019s an album full of good rock songs about being pissed off but ultimately getting on with life. Dig a bit deeper, and you\u2019ll find ten really strong tales of small town frustration, love-hate relationships with places and people and hanging out in the van, set to a well balanced mix of indie-rock, 90\u2019s shoegaze and modern punk. <\/p>\n<p>Opener \u2018Can\u2019t Keep Cool\u2019 offers the first nod to 90\u2019s fuzz-rock, with a laid back groove and melody that could be a jam between Weezer and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Stand out tracks <i>\u2018Keep Coming\u2019<\/i> and <i>\u2018So Bright\u2019<\/i> give away a near-constant reminder of fellow PA punks The Menzingers, with vocalist Brandon Gepfer\u2019s voice sounding more and more like the latter\u2019s Tom May with every listen. It\u2019s not a bad thing though, and the album\u2019s dalliances with different styles sets it apart from any further comparison.<\/p>\n<p><!-- more --><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spillband.bandcamp.com\/album\/top-ten\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Top Ten by spill<\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>\u2018All Right\u2019<\/i> lashes out with grunge-y guitars that echo Nirvana\u2019s <i>\u2018Drain You\u2019<\/i> before <i>\u2018Feels Too Good\u2019<\/i> rocks in like a homage to British indie rock types The Cribs and The Libertines. <i>\u2018Only One\u2019<\/i> shows the guys know a thing or two about dynamics as well, more laid back with drums in and out. <i>\u2018Turn Around\u2019<\/i> is a Brand New-esque alt-rock slow burner but fast becomes a favourite on repeat listens.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cThis is the best thing we could come up with. It&rsquo;s my top ten songs I could write,\u201d<\/i> says Gepfer of the record. It\u2019s a sentence that\u2019s equally bold and modest \u2013  like the record itself.
