These songs won\u2019t even feel satisfying outside of the context of the album. It\u2019s gripping in the same way that <i>\u2018The Last of Us\u2019<\/i> isn\u2019t a game you can simply pause and carry on with another day. And with each listen, Sheffield curveballs <a href=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/tag\/rolo-tomassi\/\"><b>Rolo Tomassi<\/b><\/a> take a tighter hold of you and drain you of every last emotion.<\/p>\n<p>For the most part, <i>\u2018Time Will Die\u2026\u2019<\/i> is a bombastic and punishing record. Tracks such as <i>\u2018Rituals\u2019<\/i> and <i>\u2018Alma Mater\u2019<\/i> specialise in sonic assaults of frantic hardcore drum and guitar arrangements with buzzing synthesisers bubbling underneath to add a coating of uncertainty and menace. As frontwoman Eva Spence screams about waves of doubt that hold her back, these towers of abrasion become characteristic of the raging storm of anxiety and paranoia.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Rolo Tomassi - Rituals\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HhcF-3wBlEw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!-- more --><\/p>\n<p>But the attention to detail in the songs\u2019 craft is one of the album\u2019s most staggering features. From Eva\u2019s bewitching vocal harmonies between riffs on <i>\u2018The Hollow Hour\u2019<\/i> to the delicate flourishes of electronica that alight opening track <i>\u2018Aftermath\u2019<\/i>, every second of this album has been carefully worked over to provide as much impact as possible. This craft pays off on <i>\u2018A Flood of Light\u2019<\/i>, which uses trance synthesizers to create a plasma-textured wall of sound, building in tension to end with Eva\u2019s refrains of <i>\u201cbut there you are, always\u201d<\/i>. It\u2019s a moment soaked in pathos that is sure to hurt anyone listening as much as it did it\u2019s creators.<\/p>\n<p>As otherworldly as <i>\u2018Time Will Die and Love Will Bury It\u2019<\/i> often sounds, the human emotion it pours and brings out in listeners is what makes it a record worth cherishing. <b>Rolo Tomassi<\/b> have worked fear, regret and loss into this album, and the result is something powerful, unmoveable and unforgettable.
