“Polite post-hardcore” quartet Lastoneout<\/b> have been labelled as ones to watch since 2014’s \u2018Ten Years Too Late\u2019<\/i> EP. With a growing reputation, they look to break out of their South-West base with new mini-album \u2018This Was Never My Story, It\u2019s Yours\u2019<\/i>. Inspired by the alternative emo fusions of the 00s (think Funeral For A Friend), the quartet are set to join the ever expanding roster of bands taking this path.<\/p>\n

The quartet\u2019s ability to bounce between a mixture of both heavy and soft melodic instrumentation and vocal work is notable from the start as \u2018Two Fifty Five AM\u2019<\/i> boasts rapidly paced, fine-tuned instrumental work and an impressive range in vocals. The same can be said for \u2018It\u2019s Better To Burn Out\u2019<\/i> with it\u2019s invigorating energy bought on from the powerful guitar work.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u2018Two Months Eight Weeks\u2019<\/i> is a bright and energetic while interlude track, \u2018Halftitle\u2019<\/i>, is uplifting but puts an obvious emotional emphasis on wordplay and a softer touch to the instrumentals. Airy plucks of guitar met with lines like \u201cAll I want is for you to be happy for me\u201d<\/i> make for a striking track.<\/p>\n

The explosive \u2018Box Of Matches (It Only Takes One)\u2019<\/i> is a clear standout with its intense opening which fuels a powerful energy throughout. While the penultimate, \u2018He\u2019s In A Bad Way\u2019<\/i> impresses with its smooth harmonies. \u2018The Importance Of Punctuation\u2019<\/i> ends the record on a high, wrapping it up with the formula they\u2019ve followed throughout.<\/p>\n

Lastoneout<\/b> have produced an incredible and refreshing record with a youthful core. Through a set of well-crafted, carefully constructed songs, the four-piece show a passion that gives them potential to exceed. It\u2019s an overused term, but Lastoneout<\/b> have got something very special coming your way.<\/p>\n
