Songs such as <i>&#8216;Senses\u2019<\/i> and <a href=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/post\/168053231884\/already-heard-video-premiere-sick-joy-smiling\">the previously <b>Already Heard<\/b> premiered<\/a> <i>&#8216;Smiling Shame\u2019<\/i> are carried a raw, melodic undertone.<\/p>\n<p>Undoubtedly, the three-piece aren\u2019t afraid to hide their influences with hints of Nirvana, Soundgarden, and the Pixies appearing throughout the four songs that make up <i>&#8216;Amateurs\u2019<\/i>. If you\u2019re looking for a contemporary take on 90s grunge rock, then <b>Sick Joy<\/b> are ones for you.<\/p>\n<p>In the lead up to its imminent release, we asked vocalist\/guitarist Mykl Barton to pick out a selection of his 90s rock favourite.<br \/>\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/user\/alreadyhearduk\/playlist\/6nQRLzeiJZjjPqBFucKGin\" width=\"100%\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/user\/alreadyhearduk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Follow us on Spotify for more playlists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Pixies &#8211; Tame<\/h2>\n<p>Technically 1989, but if it wasn\u2019t for this album (<i>&#8216;Doolittle\u2019<\/i>) most of this list and most of 90\u2019s wouldn\u2019t have happened.<\/p>\n<h2>Hole &#8211; Doll Parts<\/h2>\n<p>The song that got me into <b>Hole<\/b> and still one of my favourites today. <i>&#8216;Live Through This\u2019<\/i> is a fucking brilliant album.<\/p>\n<p><!-- more --><\/p>\n<h2>Sonic Youth &#8211; Mildred Pierce<\/h2>\n<p>I spent 35 minutes deciding which track from this album (<i>&#8216;Goo\u2019<\/i>) to pick\u2026 says it all.<\/p>\n<h2>PJ Harvey &#8211; Down By The Water<\/h2>\n<p>Probably the best solo artist of the 90\u2019s and of all time. I\u2019m a huge PJ fan.<\/p>\n<h2>The La\u2019s &#8211; I Can\u2019t Sleep<\/h2>\n<p>An amazing underrated album with so many great songs on it. It wouldn\u2019t have mattered which song I picked from the album because they\u2019re all great in different ways.<\/p>\n<h2>Jeff Buckley &#8211; Last Goodbye<\/h2>\n<p>Because one of my favourite memories involves this song playing from my record player. Beautiful album.<\/p>\n<h2>Nirvana &#8211; Dumb<\/h2>\n<p>My favourite <b>Nirvana song<\/b>, from my favourite album &#8211; <i>&#8216;In Utero\u2019<\/i>.<\/p>\n<h2>Queens of the Stone Age &#8211; Mexicola<\/h2>\n<p>Have you heard that bass? Fuck!<\/p>\n<h2>Massive Attack &#8211; Teardrop<\/h2>\n<p>The first of many times <b>Massive Attack<\/b> blew me away.<\/p>\n<h2>Nine Inch Nails &#8211; March of the Pigs<\/h2>\n<p><b>Nine Inch Nails<\/b> are in my top favourite bands.
