Escape the Fate<\/b> are born survivors of today\u2019s ever-evolving scene. No matter how many conflicts, lineup changes and uncertainties have tested them, they\u2019ve endured and continued to express themselves in the most heart-wrenching way on record and emphatically on stage.<\/p>\n

Talking Ozzy Osbourne, Disney and the catharsis of emotionally-charged new album \u2018Hate Me\u2019<\/i>, Already Heard<\/b> has a chat with the entire ETF<\/b> lineup before they hit the Download Festival stage.<\/p>\n

AH: Third year at Download, how\u2019s it feeling? <\/b>
Robert Ortiz (drums): It\u2019s feeling fucking cold!<\/i><\/p>\n

Kevin \u2018Thrasher\u2019 Gruft (lead guitar): We\u2019re really stoked to be here and we\u2019re so ready to see Black Sabbath tonight, we heard it\u2019s Ozzy\u2019s seventh to last show. I think it might be official this time, I mean he\u2019s getting older, especially with all this news lately and Tony Iommi\u2019s health problems.<\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: That\u2019s why he\u2019s fucking Ozzy Osbourne.<\/i><\/p>\n

Thrasher: That\u2019s why we\u2019re gonna watch him and that\u2019s why we\u2019re stoked to be sharing the bill with them. He\u2019s the
\nPrince of Darkness after all!<\/i><\/p>\n

AH: Congratulations on \u2018Hate Me\u2019<\/i>, we almost want to say it\u2019s your best yet! <\/b>
Thrasher: That\u2019s what everyone\u2019s been saying!
\nRob: Yeah, you wouldn\u2019t be the only one. <\/i><\/p>\n

AH: It\u2019s coming from such a raw place, right? <\/b>
Thrasher: It\u2019s coming from the sincerity of the lyrics, the honesty and all the passion we put towards it. After all these years of touring and the experiences in our lives, we\u2019ve been able to create an honest piece of art.<\/i> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

AH: Speaking of eras, would you go back and relive any Escape the Fate era? <\/b>
Rob: Fuck no, I wouldn\u2019t even relive this era right now! I\u2019m going to go to the era where we\u2019re all living happily ever after.<\/i><\/p>\n

Thrasher: Yeah, when we\u2019re all flying our separate jets and touring so much that we only see each other when we\u2019re on stage.<\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: Could I go back and change an era? I\u2019d go right back to the very beginning and record it all with this lineup right now.<\/i><\/p>\n

Thrasher: That\u2019s the thing though, you can\u2019t go back and you can\u2019t change those experiences. That\u2019s what our song \u2018Remember Every Scar\u2019 is about, you learn from it.<\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: This great baboon once told me that the past can\u2019t hurt you\u2026 you either run from it or learn from it. All those experiences have brought me to meet these guys (– Thrasher: and Robert needed to meet his Pumba). Now it feels like we\u2019ve run back to Pride Rock. What if Mufasa hadn\u2019t died? If Scar hadn\u2019t chased us, we wouldn\u2019t have had our peak. Now we\u2019re Simba and we\u2019re taking back Pride Rock.<\/i><\/p>\n

Thrasher: Delivering the most passionate, energetic and spot-on performances that you\u2019ve ever seen Escape the Fate perform.<\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: You know that roar Simba does at the end? That\u2019s his official coronation like \u2018I\u2019m back bitches\u2019 and that\u2019s our roar.<\/i><\/p>\n

AH: Any songs that you\u2019re desperate to play live but can\u2019t fit into the setlists? <\/b>
Thrasher: \u2019Let Me Be\u2019, we currently don\u2019t have enough room to play all the songs off \u2018Hate Me\u2019. We should tour it in full, that would\u2019ve been an idea. <\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: There\u2019s a lot that doesn\u2019t make it and days like today, we get a short time at festivals and we have to pick and choose. Right now, \u2018Remember Every Scar\u2019 is the one so that\u2019s what we\u2019re pushing. Our fans came a long way and paid good money to see us, so we want to play them songs that they love and admire, but at the same time the new shit is what they want so we want to give them that too. <\/i><\/p>\n

Thrasher: Just like you said, Hate Me<\/i> is the best ever. <\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: Fate is the future, so you don\u2019t wanna mess with that, you\u2019ve gotta roll with the punches.<\/i><\/p>\n

AH: Ever gonna get tired of the festival circuits? <\/b>
Craig Mabbitt (vocals): We have a saying in the ETF camp \u2013 you don\u2019t get tired, you get hungry. We wanna do more festivals. <\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: Maybe we\u2019ll do our own festival. <\/i><\/p>\n

Craig: Fatefest sounds good. <\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: If Ozzy fucking Osbourne is still doing a festival then that\u2019s what I\u2019m gonna do.<\/i><\/p>\n

AH: After all, Gene Simmons said rock is dead, right? <\/b>
Craig: Clearly fucking not, 70,000 people here don\u2019t think so. <\/i><\/p>\n

TJ Bell (rhythm guitar): Why is Gene Simmons making the worst fucking comments about everything lately? <\/i><\/p>\n

Thrasher: He wants to keep his name out there, is that it? <\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: As far as I\u2019m concerned, he\u2019s Gene Simmons, he does what he does.<\/i><\/p>\n

AH: So technically you guys have been around for 11 years, do you see yourselves sticking around for another 11 years? <\/b>
TJ: Well I\u2019ve only been around for 7 months so from my perspective, it\u2019s all totally new! <\/i><\/p>\n

Craig: There\u2019s different chapters and different moments but I honestly believe the four guys stood in front of you right now will stick it out as long as physically possible\u2026 until we show up to a venue and there\u2019s no-one there. Then it\u2019s time to hang up the towel!<\/i><\/p>\n

AH: You don\u2019t fight at all behind the scenes? <\/b>
Rob: What do you mean, fight? Are you crazy?! <\/i><\/p>\n

Craig: We hate each other sometimes, me and Rob have got into piss fights, me and Kevin\u2026 well Kevin doesn\u2019t do anything, as soon as things get weird, he\u2019s out. He just walks away. <\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: We fight every day but that\u2019s why we call it a family because it\u2019s unbreakable, it\u2019s like we\u2019re gonna be together no matter what.<\/i><\/p>\n

Thrasher: Talking of Escape the Fate history, we\u2019re mature enough now to know that these things will pass and the problems only give way to a solution and growth, so that\u2019s what we do now. <\/i><\/p>\n

Rob: We love each other, we may do things that annoy each other but that\u2019s just gonna be how it is.
\nCraig: I used to have fights with my sister every morning at breakfast because of how she chewed her cereal. I get nitpicky though, I annoyed my sister to death but she\u2019s my sister, she\u2019s family and I\u2019d take a bullet for her.<\/i><\/p>\n
