Such a breathtaking return to glittering form left an uncertain future for this seventh studio venture, but happily it not only remains on par with its predecessor but <i>\u2018All Our Gods&hellip;\u2019<\/i> stands on its own two immortal feet.<\/p>\n<p>Contagious opener <i>\u2018Nihilist\u2019<\/i> with ethereal breakdowns and goosebump-inducing deep tones shows a distinct progression in the last two years. This outfit is tighter than ever and it\u2019s a perfect fit, especially when frontman Sam Carter\u2019s acid tongue is free to run away with itself through the visceral <i>\u2018Deathwish\u2019<\/i>. <i>\u2018All Love Is Lost\u2019<\/i> proves a definite departure from <i>\u2018LF\/\/LT\u2019<\/i> with a fresh, slower melodic rhythm, while reverent echoes of <i>\u2018Red Hypergiant\u2019<\/i> slink alongside punishing high notes in <i>\u2018From The Wilderness\u2019<\/i>. <!-- more --><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>In space nobody can hear Alex Dean\u2019s bass screaming amid <i>\u2018Phantom Fear\u2019<\/i>, before the soaring solidarity anthem <i>\u2018Downfall\u2019<\/i> promises a war of divine proportions. <i>\u201cHope is a prison,\u201d<\/i> cries out the lingering sentiment of devastating <i>\u2018Gone With The Wind\u2019<\/i> with a welcome clean vocal interlude, while the echoing vacuum of <i>\u2018The Empty Hourglass\u2019<\/i> allows voluminous chants to blast their way to the front row.<\/p>\n<p>Consistent instrumental artistry shows destruction never sounded so good through the tricksy stringmanship of lead single <i>\u2018A Match Made In Heaven\u2019<\/i> and the cavernous <i>\u2018Gravity\u2019<\/i>.
