Ohio\u2019s hopeless romantics have been around the block since their last EP venture, a good four years\u2019 break has shown they\u2019re perfectly capable of tugging at heartstrings in such a restricted format. \u2018Just To Get Through To You\u2019<\/i> is an acoustic gift to their dedicated following, revisiting every era of their 13 years together, but otherwise much of a muchness.<\/p>\n

Pun-tastic opener \u2018Blasphemy Myself and I\u2019<\/i> sheds yet more honest light on \u2018Summer Bones\u2019<\/i> hook-filled number, proving these cynical sorrowful notes come from a genuine place. Second record \u2018Skip School, Start Fights\u2019<\/i> is represented by the contagious \u2018Drop The Girl\u2019<\/i>, just as dismissive of time-wasting females as its predecessor if a little less in-your-face. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Suppressed emotional fatigue courses through the reflective strum of \u2018Summer Bones\u2019<\/i> and the displaced \u2018Fucked Up Kids\u2019<\/i> hits a fresh empathetic tone throughout, with voluminous echoes to substitute for its original racing energy. This remarkable transformation makes the EP worth its while alone \u2013 a solidarity tale plays out behind the strings beyond its original heavy production.<\/p>\n

When heartbreak comes knocking, you answer the door cautiously with \u2018Save Your Breath\u2019<\/i>s newfound gut-wrenching betrayal in the background. Standing the ground for their first album, this driven acoustic rendition proves Nick Thompson\u2019s abilities to make their previous material his own.<\/p>\n

Ensuring this doesn\u2019t become a pointless release, new track \u2018Lighthouse\u2019<\/i> clashes with its companions with loved-up feeling, clearly not as honed as its predecessors but it soon breaks into punchy sentiment to close out on a fervent reminder of their worth.<\/p>\n

An acoustic EP was never going to shake the earth beneath Hit The Lights<\/b>\u2019 feet, but it\u2019s a quaint addition to their back catalogue should hardcore addicts need affirmation of their success.<\/p>\n
