With their debut album, ‘Peaceless,’<\/i> metallic hardcore mob Lock & Key<\/b> produce a blistering set of thumping, adrenaline-filled songs. Throughout tracks such as ‘No Acceptance’<\/i> and ‘Unclear State of Mind’<\/i> serve to be upfront and confrontational as the quintet take a no-holds barred approach.<\/p>\n

As they prepare unleash ‘Peaceless’<\/i> this Friday, we asked Lock & Key<\/b> to tell us about five songs that have influenced them along the way.<\/p>\n

<\/figure>\n

NOFX – Pump Up The Valuum <\/h2>\n

Massive fan of the “thrashy melodic” feel that NOFX<\/b> get on this album and whole album. This sound is definitely something we’ve tried to incorporate into song of the guitar work.<\/p>\n

The Offspring – One Fine Day<\/h2>\n

I remember hearing this song when I was a teenager with the “anthem” style chorus, and basically at we stole the “three stabs” at the end of it and whacked it in ‘Hostile’<\/i> during the pre-chorus. Not obvious to the untrained ear!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Stick To Your Guns – Against Them All <\/h2>\n

A band we very much look up to musically and ethically, the song is a good all rounder of their style and is a record we listened to a lot during the writing side of ‘Peaceless.’<\/i><\/p>\n

Dead Players – Premium Murkage<\/h2>\n

Big fans of the UK Hip Hop scene and the Dead Players<\/b> mixtape was something we played a lot on some of the long drives in Europe. I tried to incorporate some of the fast paced vocal lines to the album, but obviously in more of a “hardcore” twist.<\/p>\n

Down To Nothing – Life On The James<\/h2>\n

Subconsciously I guess this song had some influence to some of the melodic choruses we had on the album, one of the best hardcore bands to date and this album was played a lot during the writing of ‘Peaceless’<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

‘Peaceless’<\/i> by Lock & Key<\/b> is released on April 8th via Crooked Noise<\/b>.<\/p>\n
