Despite lacking their usual stage presence and some misjudged backing vocals, this acoustic arrangement of The Used<\/b>\u2019s back catalogue highlights is a 15th anniversary gift for hardcore fans, but for newer converts a more confusing affair.<\/p>\n

The crowd screams and occasional bum note of \u2018Tunnel\u2019<\/i> start on the wrong foot, but before long \u2018The Taste Of Ink\u2019<\/i> speaks volumes for the enduring success of the band that insistently raise a middle finger to injustice. The haunting, meandering \u2018All That I\u2019ve Got\u2019<\/i> displays frontman Bert McCracken\u2019s vocal versatility right down to the last note, dedicating the track to the emotional whirlwind the band conquered through their second album \u2018In Love and Death\u2019<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

New fans may find Bert\u2019s lengthy stage banter rather pointless, but to the veterans they prove a priceless insight into a band that\u2019s shaped the emo scene since 2001. In homage also to their heroes, a true-to-track rendition of John Lennon classic \u2018Imagine\u2019<\/i> proves a welcome addition as Bert\u2019s vocal anti-political sentiments shape their shows these days.<\/p>\n

Fan favourite \u2018The Bird and the Worm\u2019<\/i> proves even the band are astounded at how well their music carries into the acoustic realm. That said, the backing singers need a swift kick stage left, even the crowd sings along to \u2018Paralyzed\u2019<\/i> and \u2018Overdose\u2019<\/i> in the right key when they fail to.<\/p>\n

Heavy hits \u2018Paralyzed\u2019<\/i> and \u2018Lunacy Fringe\u2019<\/i> demonstrate the band\u2019s acoustic brand of chaos, but the sorrow of \u2018All That I\u2019ve Got\u2019<\/i> and \u2018Blue and Yellow\u2019<\/i> shine most beautifully in this environment. Packing tear-jerking emotion in swathes, closer \u2018On My Own\u2019<\/i> benefits from Dan Whitesides\u2019 commanding drums that flow seamlessly alongside gut-wrenching screams.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve waited 1.5 decades to hear The Used<\/b> play your favourites with an acoustic twist, this is the gift that keeps on giving\u2026 providing you can ignore the backing singers.<\/p>\n
