You see, <b>ROMP<\/b>&rsquo;s vocalist\/keyboardist Madison Klarer and guitarist Lucas Dalakian met through the app, before deciding to combine their talents to make sweet music. <\/p>\n<p>And sweet it is too. After a buzzsaw debut EP, the trio (rounded out by bassist Chris Beninato), have returned with <i>\u2018Departure From Venus\u2019<\/i>, an enjoyable if undemanding slice of punk-lite power pop.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s little new about the sound of <b>ROMP<\/b>, and fans of bands such as Kittyhawk or Motion City Soundtrack will find lots to enjoy about the bouncy keyboard-driven pop-rock of <i>\u2018Come Undone\u2019<\/i> or <i>\u2018Backfire\u2019<\/i>. That said, Klarer has an edge to her voice that ensures there\u2019s a punch to the lyrics that set <b>ROMP<\/b> apart from their peers \u2013 especially on the punchy <i>\u2018Get Off The Scale\u2019<\/i>. <\/p>\n<p><!-- more --><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rompistight.bandcamp.com\/album\/departure-from-venus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Departure from Venus by ROMP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps aware that too much of a good thing would dilute the impact, <i>\u2018Departure From Venus\u2019<\/i> is mercifully short too. Nine songs rattle along in well under 25 minutes, and each one screams \u2018hit single\u2019. The result is an album with little to no filler, and one that doesn\u2019t get tiresome. It\u2019s well-judged, well-played stuff and one which should find an audience comfortably. <\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, <i>\u2018Departure From Venus\u2019<\/i> will not change the world, nor will it seismically shift the musical landscape.
