\"GingerWell it\u2019s been a year since Ginger Wildheart<\/b> launched the G.A.S.S project, a fan-funded endeavour consisting of three new songs per month. ‘Year Of The Fanclub’<\/i> is a retrospective celebration of the project consisting of twelve of the songs that were released over the past year.<\/p>\n

From the opening track \u2018Down The Dip\u2019<\/i> you\u2019re in familiar territory. Ginger has his very own style and he has been uncompromising for the best part of three decades. Everything he does has that underlying Geordie swagger and a ton of attitude. That continues with \u2018Honour\u2019<\/i> which features Courtney Love on vocal duties. \u2018El Mundo (Slow Fatigue)\u2019<\/i> slows the pace a little while adding some brass and strings to give the song a real presence, and the acoustic intro to \u2018The Last Days Of Summer\u2019<\/i> keeps that going before picking up the tempo, becoming an upbeat piano track.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Track five \u2018Only Henry Rollins Can Save Us Now\u2019<\/i> picks up the pace again, going into another acoustic track in the shape of \u2018The Pendine Incident\u2019<\/i> and that formula is repeated with \u2018Do You?\u2019<\/i> and \u2018If You Find Yourself In London Town\u2019<\/i> then having a poke at the state of the UK with \u2018Toxins & Tea\u2019<\/i> which has some real laugh-out-loud moments.<\/p>\n

Finishing off the album are balls-out rockers \u2018No One Smiled At Me Today\u2019<\/i> and \u2018Ostracide\u2019<\/i> before closing out with another acoustic track \u2018Don\u2019t Lose Your Tail, Girl\u2019<\/i> which eases you out gently.<\/p>\n

Ginger<\/b> has delivered something that is obviously very personal, and the album flows very nicely. It\u2019s thought-provoking, fun in places, and serious in others. One thing that stands out above everything else though, is that it\u2019s really very good indeed.<\/p>\n
