Misguided middle partings, nonchalant nods and fed up flannel shirts at the ready, <b>Milk Teeth<\/b>\u2019s unique adaptation of a number of \u201890s grunge, alt-rock and punk influences produce a discombobulated record to set heads scratching.<!-- more --><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Opening with the grunge chaos of <i>\u2018Brickwork\u2019<\/i>, their existential ponderings culminate with Josh\u2019s riled cries, <i>\u201cIf you run with scissors, you\u2019ll get what you deserve, watch your footing my dear, or you may just disappear.\u201d<\/i> <i>\u2018Driveway Birthday\u2019<\/i> showcases Becky\u2019s vocal versatility amid an ethereal atmosphere, offset neatly by the drawling reluctance of <i>\u2018Burger Drop\u2019<\/i>, firmly establishing a trend of short, snappy tracks that don\u2019t outstay their welcome.<\/p>\n<p>The opening feedback is perhaps the most coherent aspect of <i>\u2018Brain Food\u2019<\/i>, despite its racing tempo and the whining of Chris\u2019 fretwork. With acoustic melancholy, <i>\u2018Swear Jar (again)\u2019<\/i> presents a drowsy dialogue between both vocals. Don\u2019t be fooled though, as <i>\u2018Get A Clue\u2019<\/i>s drastic contrasting tempo launches you right out of your skin, as Josh\u2019s gut-wrenching wails take centre stage. It\u2019s a transition not approached professionally or at all considerately, which lets them down considerably. Filled with the swirling <i>\u2018Moon Wanderer\u2019<\/i> and the misguided key in which <i>\u2019Kabuki\u2019<\/i> is conducted, it seems the halfway house became an acoustic afterthought. <\/p>\n<p>Enormous credit is due to drummer Olly for punching through <i>\u2018Crows Feet\u2019<\/i> and leading the grunge drone of <i>\u2019Leona\u2019<\/i>.
