\"\"Hard rock and metal legend Lemmy Kilmister<\/b> of Mot\u00f6rhead<\/b> has died at the age of 70. The cause of death has been confirmed as cancer.<\/p>\n

The vocalist and bassist celebrated his 70th birthday last Thursday, and earlier this year had to cancel several shows of their ‘40th anniversary Tour’<\/i> due to health problems, including a lung infection.<\/p>\n

The news follows the death of original Mot\u00f6rhead<\/b> drummer Phil Taylor who, died last month after a long illness.<\/p>\n

The bands management made the following statement:<\/p>\n

“There is no easy way to say this\u2026our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it\u2019s way down the street, with his family.<\/i><\/p>\n

We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren\u2019t words.<\/i><\/p>\n

We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please\u2026play Mot\u00f6rhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy\u2019s music LOUD. <\/i><\/p>\n

Have a drink or few. Share stories. Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.<\/i><\/p>\n
