If you want some energetic metal-infused punk to liven up you this holiday, you don’t have to look no further than ‘21 Grams’<\/i> from eccentric groove punks Mr Shiraz<\/b>. Over the course of six songs, they deliver big riffs with equally monstrous hooks that prove to be consistent and effective. If you’ve not heard it yet, you can do so here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Besides the concoction of metal, grunge, rock and punk, the quintet seemingly have admiration for 80s movies. So for this edition of “Fives”<\/b> we asked frontman Mikey Shiraz (aka Mike ‘The Mike’ Mike) to reach out to his band mates about their favourite films from the decade. Sounds like a pretty easy task right? Here’s how Mikey got on…<\/p>\n May we just point out that this is an impossible and mean task to choose just 5 movies from the 80’s; easily the greatest time ever in the history of motion pictures. If this was top 50 then maybe but still, it\u2019s a cruel task.<\/i><\/p>\n Anyway, we have attempted it. I (Mikey) contacted each member of the band to find out his or her personal favourites. I shall give our answers in the form of the messages I received in return and maybe you will get some understanding of what I have to deal with in Mr Shiraz.<\/i><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tori (aka Blackula Spectaular): The Goonies<\/b> When asking Tori why she chose this film, this was her answer: “They got to do what\u2019s right for them. Because it\u2019s their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it\u2019s our time. It\u2019s our time down here.”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Tim (aka TimPOWER): The Lost Boys<\/b> <\/i><\/p>\n “It’s the best vampire film ever with the best cast. Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Keifer Sutherland! What more do you need really?<\/i><\/p>\n It also has a killer soundtrack, the name Michael is said 50000000000 times, The Frog Brothers, also the greased up, ponytail sax player! Need we say more?”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Steve (aka New Boy): Short Circuit\/Short Circuit 2<\/b> “Well he’s a robot. Also in the second one he rebuilds himself and goes all bad ass and it’s all like "I NEED A HERO”, it’s well feel good as fuck and I’m all like “YEEEEEEAAAAAAAH JONNY FIVE!!!!!!”<\/i><\/p>\n Sure, the main actor in the second one is borderline a racist stereotype but look past that (it’s not as bad as the film ‘Soul Man’<\/i>) and you get a beauty.“<\/i><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Iain (aka Stixx Destruction): Back To The Future Trilogy<\/b> Mikey: Iain, send me your favourite 80’s film and why.<\/i><\/p>\n Iain: Smokey & The Bandit. It has Burt Reynolds, A Pontiac trans am and a massive truck! Sorted.<\/i><\/p>\n Mikey: That\u2019s from the 70’s.<\/i><\/p>\n Iain: Well I watched it in the 80’s.<\/i><\/p>\n Iain: Wait no. It was the 90’s. Ok, Back To The Future Trilogy. Time travel in a car, a train and cowboys, a hover board and a guitar solo! Also Biff! Also, Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers is in it before they got shit.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Mikey: Ferris Buellers Day Off<\/b> "Life moves pretty fast. \nThis was no easy task. Tori loves movies and she had a major struggle with trying to reach her final decision. ‘The Goonies’<\/i> is a true classic and if you haven’t seen it then you should be ashamed!<\/p>\n
