\"DespiteAfter a series of member changes and general roadblocks, having new music from London\u2019s Despite My Deepest Fear<\/b> is a welcome refreshment.<\/p>\n

Though as a whole \u2018Selfish Generation\u2019<\/i> picks up where 2013\u2019s \u2018Make Or Break\u2019<\/i> left off, there is a real air of progression around the band\u2019s new output. Though still painstakingly tight and filled to the brim with huge mosh parts and foot-tapping melody, there is a noticeable maturity and level of purpose within Despite My Deepest Fear<\/b>\u2019s songwriting now, rather than just delivering riffs solely for the pit.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

This shines through brightest of the mountaintop-ready hooks of \u2018F.Y.F\u2019<\/i> and deep-set mosh fodder of \u2018The Repressed\u2019<\/i>, while \u2018Long Way Home\u2019<\/i> and the title track dish out the perfect mix of downbeat debauchery and melodious harmony.<\/p>\n

What Despite My Deepest Fear<\/b> have delivered with \u2018Selfish Generation\u2019<\/i> is the most assured, balanced and best set of songs from a career that has stopped and started way more than it should have. If things keep going at a pace this strong though, the bigger stage may be calling their name in 2016.<\/p>\n
