Featuring\u00a0Lee Villain (ex-The Defiled frontman),\u00a0Luke Johnson (Amen, No Devotion, Beat Union),\u00a0Steve Lucarelli (The Ataris) and\u00a0Jaxon Moore, the band have landed\u00a0themselves a Maida Vale session, a forthcoming appearance at Leeds &amp; Reading, followed by a support slot with The Used. They\u2019re also set to drop their debut EP, <em>\u2018Burn Forever\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Opening up with the title track, we\u2019re treated to an initial onslaught of noisy feedback which effectively builds up some tension before breaking out into stomping Nirvana-esque guitars, with thundering drums racing us through the beat. Once the vocals start, they\u2019re raw, sneery and full of rock attitude. By the time it gets to the catchy chorus, it\u2019s easier to see why they\u2019d be a good choice for that Used tour.<\/p>\n<p>With a series of impressively long screams around the two and a half minute mark, <em>\u2018Black Hole\u2019<\/em> is a heavy, guitar-driven onslaught, dripping with post-hardcore angst and dissonant, melodic chorus hooks. It\u2019s third song <em>\u2018Thieves\u2019 <\/em>which is possibly the heaviest of the collection, however, hitting us with those grunge vibes and killer screams again \u2013 how does he hold his breath that long, really? There\u2019s also some neat use of effects and echo on the vocals, and a spoken word sample in the breakdown. The snare is punchy and relentless, the rhythm section driving solidly throughout the song.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"LOWLIVES - BURN FOREVER (Official Video)\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0INUuwGYowM?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The EP ends with an acoustic version of <em>\u2018Burn Forever\u2019<\/em>, which shows off their versatility, highlighting\u00a0Lee Villain&#8217;s vocal abilities.<\/p>\n<p>Final song aside, these tracks are <em>big <\/em>and in your face. <strong>Lowlives <\/strong>mean business, and it\u2019s easy to see why they\u2019re attracting some attention already.
