\"superamerican\"It\u2019s impressive that Super American <\/b>have reached the position where they\u2019re able to release a full-length album, particularly when many bands in this vein go unnoticed throughout their usually-brief careers. Last year\u2019s \u2019Disposable\u2019 <\/i>EP was decent, but beyond a few pleasant emo \/ pop-rock hooks, it wasn\u2019t exactly attention-grabbing. ‘Tequila Sunrise’ <\/i>gives them a chance to branch out and show what they\u2019re capable of in a wider context.<\/p>\n

Sadly \u2019Tequila Sunrise\u2019 <\/i>isn\u2019t that album, and any progression that\u2019s been made is fairly negligible. It\u2019s a low-key listen throughout, driven by what largely feels like acoustic or gentler transpositions of early- to mid-2000s pop-rock. The issue is it can run together fairly readily; a song like \u2019Estoy Eternamente Lo Siento\u2019 <\/i>especially lacks definition with how distant the vocals feel behind a fairly barebones acoustic and percussion set-up. When it gets too twee like with the produced beats on \u2019Casino Blonde\u2019 <\/i>or the toothache-inducing acoustics of \u2019Givin\u2019 It Up\u2019<\/i>, more could be done to give these songs some more longevity.<\/p>\n
