\"Puddle Odds are with New Jersey’s Puddle Splasher<\/b>, there won’t be a lot you haven’t heard before, namely lo-fi indie-punk with the odd bit of grunge thrown into the mix. It’s certainly a corner of the market that’s become incredibly overcrowded, and while new EP ‘Missed Connection’<\/i> doesn’t exactly allow them to stand out, it certainly sets the ball rolling for a fruitful career.<\/p>\n

The four tracks on this EP demonstrate an already mastered knowledge of the genre’s core ideals. ‘Rotting Heart’<\/i> channels Dinosaur Jr in its hazy vocals and driving, chiming guitars, while ‘Forget My Name’<\/i> is a welcome, upbeat offering.<\/p>\n

Missed Connection by Puddle Splasher<\/a><\/p>\n

The truth is, four songs were probably the best way Puddle Splasher<\/b> could go. In terms of sound, it is extremely restrictive, and an EP lets them fit in their entire oeuvre without being too repetitive (though there’s is some on here rather unavoidably). It’s very much playing to a certain audience, but if that audience catches on, this is only the beginning for Puddle Splasher<\/b>.<\/p>\n
