\"LionThe fact that Brighton\/Boston duo Lion Skin<\/b> are releasing their debut EP ‘Bones’<\/i> physically on cassette would give you the impression that they’re yet another band being quirky for quirkiness’ sake. <\/p>\n

Despite such an obscure release method though, ‘Bones’<\/i> sound couldn’t be more straightforward. This EP is five tracks of swirling, chiming alt-rock in the vein of bands like Moose Blood. <\/p>\n

If, for some strange reason, that isn’t enough to convince you to give Lion Skin<\/b> a chance, here’s a bit more – the likes of ‘Lights’<\/i> and the grungier ‘Daughters’<\/i> suggest that when this band get a bit more exposure, they could become a genuine force to be reckoned with, given their irrepressible melodies and immediately captivating choruses. Elsewhere, ‘Stranger’<\/i> is a big ol’ slice of Jimmy Eat World-style goodness, and the largely acoustic closer ‘Navigating Through The Stars’<\/i> even gives nods to bands like Third Eye Blind and still manages to pull it off.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

So don’t let the obscure release method put you off – Lion Skin<\/b> have crafted an exceptionally strong opening statement with ‘Bones’<\/i> with more than a few heavy hints of true greatness.<\/p>\n
